Mindless Chatter - Monday!

    Mindless Chatter - Monday!

What a GREAT weekend. The weather was absolutely AWESOME. I sooooo wish that the weather would be sunny, 75 with a slight breeze, every single day of the year. It just puts me in such a better mood.

Friday was a mad scramble to finish up preparing for the frisbee competition - plus lots of company at my house. I painted out the frisbee course, which was 60' wide x 150' long, all by myself. I had to laugh - my lines were not straight at all. It looked like a drunk person painted them.

We had about 18 competitors for the frisbee competition. Most of the players were pro but we did have a few newbies compete too. The competitors came from all over MI. It was awesome to watch. There were some GREAT dogs and throwers there. One guy - who is paid to travel around with his dog - approached me prior to the competition and said that he was just there to play. He did not want to win (he would crush the competition). He also donated a few instructional DVDs for us to give away as prizes. So, I kept his score confidential and didn't count him in the medal running. It was a good thing too because he threw beyond the 150' mark nearly every time.

The weather could not have been more perfect the entire day. Everything ran perfectly - well except for one incident when my niece accidently let Abbie out of the x-pen during the competition. Out runs Abbie on to the field, trying to beat the other dog to the frisbee haha. How embarrassing! We let the guy start over :)

There was other doggy stuff going on too. I guess over 1,000 people showed up for the entire event. So it was a great turn out for the Humane Society. I can't wait until next year. I'm hoping to add a freestyle competition. This time around I only had toss and fetch since it was my first time organizing.

Sunday, my niece and I went to the American Heritage festival at the local nature center. We took a horse drawn carriage ride down the trails. I had Neiko and Dakota with me too. Poor Neiko wanted at those horses so bad haha.

Anyway, it was a very good, very tiring weekend :) This week I'm going to take it easy!

I'm glad you had good weather! It was warm but rainy here all weekend. We went 4-wheeling on Saturday (before the rain) but were soaked from the huge mud puddles. I now have a stinking cold Sad. Yesterday was the worst but I am feeling better today. Hopefully I'll feel better for work tomorrow. Lily and I are taking it easy today. She is feeling better since her spay surgery last Friday. Back to her normal pain in the butt self Stick out tongue.

We're bringing home a new kitten this week. Ben's fathers cat had another litter. She's the mother of our long lost Sebastian. Lily has seen the kittens and did well with them. She wasn't rough, just sniffed them all. So hopefully everything goes well when we bring the kitten home.

I now have to go give my dog some attention because she is being a BRAT!!!!! Lol

     Congratulations on a successful event.

I had a non eventful weekend. I rode my horsie, and played with my dogs. I did finish LAST weeks laundry so I can start on this weeks. My house is a disaster. Today DH accidentally dropped a bottle of Kaluha, it smashed to smitherines. Teddi high tailed it for the back bedroom, she thought for sure she was guilty. She does that, she hides when something happens. DH got most of the glass up and wiped the floor but didn't have time to really clean up. So we blocked the area off from the dogs. We don't want them getting intoxicated licking up the floor, nor do we want their tongues with glass slivers if we didn't get it all. The kicker is I don't know we will have time to clean it tonight. I go straight from work to agility, I am helping with set up for this session. DH will bring the dogs in time for class. He has two errands on his way home should get him home by 5, then he has to feed the dogs, change, get the dogs out, get treats together and be on his way to class by 6PM to make it in time. It could be really fun to clean up tomorrow night. Indifferent

On Friday I ran into a friend I have not seen since my wedding day. She lives in WI now, we used to keep in touch via the USPS but I am a horrible letter writer and we lost touch. She was in town for a recruiting event and stopped out where I keep my horse. It was so good to see her! I now have her cell and her email. I will not lose touch again! She was another big sister to me. I followed her around a lot in the late 70's early 80's. I was in her wedding, and she attended mine, many moons ago. It was so fun seeing her!

Oh, I have to share my new hand lotion find. I am always looking for good hand lotions because I have super dry skin. I also can't stand really strong scents. Anyway, I was at our American Heritage festival this weekend and there was a woman there selling "udderly Magic" hand and body lotion. It is made with Goats milk and shea butter. Ohhhhhh it works so nice! I got the Vanilla Sugar flavor. Smells so good. Here's the website if anyone is interested: aandsfarms.lunarphages.com

I have so much on my mind this week and DH called to ask if I want to go to a work-related function with him next week.  It sounds like fun, and they've gotten us a hotel room and everything, but there is a theme to the evening which means I need to go out and buy a dress because I don't own anything that will work with the theme.  So I have to go shopping, hooray.  Normally it would be fun shopping for a new posh frock, but not this week.

Yoga had better work its magic tonight, I am wound up like a spring.

I just got up and I'm not happy want to go back to bed, but if I want to go back to stupid work I need clothes. This having one day off sucks bad I hope they hire more people so we can have more lines running so we can be human again and enjoy two day weekend again.

My weekend went ok just stayed home with the dogs didn't do a darn thing just straighten the house up and took it easy. Should have took the dogs out for a walk yesterday, but wasn't going to do that by myself until Cadey gets better leash manners and BF was nursing his hangover . I guess I need to start put things up higher away from Cadey who wants to get into everything like a puppy. Last night on the phone she was constantly into everything had to keep taking things she had found that she thought was hers. She even had stuff that we haven't seen since we moved and somehow she found them. Finally I shoved her in her crate so I could have a normal conversation and she finally took a nap thankfully she behaved herself when she got up.  I really need to start working on her to get some better manners at least we are making some progress in her potty training.

Yay!  I'm glad that everything went so well, Julie.

We had a busy weekend as well.  On Saturday, we went to a Dobie adoption event.  They had fun demonstrations, & Bevo was the "meet the breed" demo dog.  He had a great time & enjoyed meeting everyone.  He also ended up being the obedience demo dog, which was not planned.  He's a bit rusty, so some of his sits weren't perfectly straight, but all in all he did great.

We did have a very scary moment while we were there.  DH was handling Mercury.  They went to get us drinks.  Instinctively, he dropped to leash so that he could use both hands to carry the drinks.  It was quickly obvious that Merc does not stay like the rest of our dogs do.  He took off running.  The park where the event was held was not fenced & close to a busy road.  He ran around like a mad man, & we had heck catching him.  I eventually let Bev off the leash to go get him.  Bev ran up alongside him, instigated play, & brought Merc straight back to us.  I was a little annoyed with DH, but there is a chance that I would have done the exact same thing.  I was just thankful to get him back in one piece.

Amanda, your situation reminds me of Jada's graduation from obedience classes.  Unfenced park, dogs off leash for their exam, and a few took off, including Jada.  Very busy streets and parking lots.... and Jada made a wide arc and ended up right next to the bulldog that she'd been eyeballing as a snack for weeks.  Nothing happened.  PHEW!

Julie - glad you had such a great time at your event - and good weather counts for so much!! :)

Ex came over to work on the house - and apologized for being a jerk the other day.  Apologized for other things and was actually able to communicate his feelings about stuff, so it was really good.  I am glad we can stay friends and these efforts go toward maintaining a good friendship rather than the alternative.

OMG i was so happy to have a 'real' weekend - sat & sunday off!  I had class friday night & got my butt kicked, I was thrown twice hard enough for me to go 'ugh' when I landed.  got knee'd in the gut pretty good, side-kicked in the gut, and knee'd in the head. Gee I love it when the instructors wanna a go a round - thats usually when it really hurts. Tried to go out to eat with my BF after class and nearly fell asleep in the booth!

Sat morning I woke up with all kinds of bruises - my jaw hurt like it was bruised but you  couldn't see any discoloration.  I think its from my head gear - all the pressures of getting hit transfer to the bottom of your headgear & onto your jaw. oh yay.  have 'mat' burns too - pretty good ones that burn when anything touches them.  One on my left elbow and one on my right ankle.

Rode around in the  sidecar, went full-face helmet shopping since it's almost winter & I'm a wimp when it comes to the cold sometimes - and its the first winter with the sidecar, so i'm going to attempt to be toasty. LOL. Also dreaming up some ideas on neck warmers that will block out the windchill.

It was pretty warm this weekend - so riding in the sidecar made me feel a little dehydrated. I dont know how people ride on motorcycles ALL weekend - they must be good at staying hydrated.  guess thats somehting I'll have to learn.

Made a rad goat bag. due to my crazy schedule all 'fun' stuff like sewing has to be pushed to the weekend. So I made one thing & I'm happy about that.
