     Hodgenville is my town.

Guess what? That dog was in my yard this morning. I let the dogs out to use the bathroom while I was getting their breakfast ready. Next thing I see is Cheyanne and Lillie chasing it off. What happened to the 10 day containment?!!!

Is there anyway you could maybe catch the dog and take her to your local animal shelter? I dont think it is against the law to do once the dog has bitten you and invaded you property.

It sucks this happened at all. I also live in an area where people think its fine to let agressive dogs run around loose so I cannot walk some parts of my street because there are canines who try to attack me and my boys. Investing in a can of that dog-spray might be a good idea.

Call the police!  Violating a 10-day rabies quarantine should mean that the dog is seized and put in isolation for the rest of the 10-day period.

The owner will probably have to pay a boarding fee to get the dog back and you will have a week to relax.

I called the dog warden and the police.

He was just letting his dogs out to potty. That was their answer. Well has he heard of a LEASH?!!!!

Err Im getting so frusrated. I have figured out why people shot other people's dogs now out here. Because the law wont do anything about it.

I cant catch the dog. She will not come to me. Usually she just barks at me and thats it. Yesterday I guess she decided it was time to eat me.

That is absolutely ridiculous!!  Do those people understand the definition of "quarantine"??

Call your Health Department tomorrow and see if they will take you more seriously.

Frankly at this point whenever my dogs were out on my property, my 38 would be there, too.

Buy an hour (or half an hour) of an attorney's time and have him instruct you on the proper way to take these people to court.  Go to the doctor on Monday and have those bites checked.

I hate to say this, but a .22 bullet is cheap insurance. This dog is a major liability and is a headline waiting to happen. The dog needs to be put down NOW.

This latest incident NEEDS to be documented!!!  It NEEDS to be on file with the police or warden or what have you.  Are you keeping a journal of this dog's "offences"?  ??!!!!!!

Not too long ago someone was having a problem with dogs in Kentucky and a quick review of their laws shows how convoluted they are and that there is much police corruption, too. It may require state police involvement.

I gurantee if the feds handled animal welfare like they do the drinking age, Kentucky would clean up in a hurry. It's illegal but the fed has threatened to withhold fed highway funds from states that didn't raise the drinking age. Texas was the first to raise the drinking age. If they did that with animal control, the state would turn around in a hurry.

We could always hope for a story on 60 minuutes or 20/20.

But there is absolutely nothing stopping you from suing the dog owner. Their dog caused damage to you. You can probably claim against their insurance. If they are renters, you could claim against the landlord's insurance. If his insurance had to pay, you can bet he would get rid of those tenants.

Try newspapers. Keep talking until someone listens to you. Go to city hall meetings. State your case over and over until something is done about it. Keep calling animal control. Call the state police if the local police are not helping. There are state laws against vicious dogs that attack people. You have to out-stubborn them. Keep hammering away until they crack.

Keep documentation of your injuries, medical receipts, police reports. Every time you call the police or the warden, take notes of the conversation. Time, ph no, content of discussion, what the other party said. Your phone bill will also be documentation that you called, so they can't say they never heard anything. Never let up.

In the words of my mom, when someone crossed her or treated us unfairly, "when I am done, you will wish to God you had never met me." And that wasn't an exaggeration, just her accurately forecasting the future state of mind of someone who did wrong by her.

Found some stuff out about the laws and dog bites around here.

KY is a liability state. The dog owner is responsible for any damages done by their dog no matter what.

I will be talking to the courts to get this dog taken care of or at least get this dog listed as a dangerous dog.

     Good for you!

I am a dog lover and I do feel bad for any dog owned by such obviously clueless people.  But safety must come first and that beast sounds like a tragedy waiting to happen.

Yikes, Kimberly!  I'm so sorry this happened to you.  I can't believe that owner!  Blaming you?!?!  He should have, at bare minimum, been tripping over himself apologizing.

I hate to say this, but I agree 100% with this statement.  It sounds as if the dog's owner could also use a bullet as well.

I hope that you get this straightened out.  I can't believe that the police & dog warden are acting so irresponsibly.

Me either. Here the police and animal control would be all over that. I'm sorry this happend to you, and if I were you I'd do everything in my power to get the dog either taken away from its careless owners or PTS.

    Personal horror story...
When I was little (probably 8 or 9) there was a long coat, white, shepherd/mix that was always contained in its fenced in yard because it was very aggressive towards people. It used to charge the fence when you walked by, and would bite at it trying to get to you. One day the dog got loose (escaped under the fence) and attacked a little girl that was walking with her mother. The mother was also bitten up. It was 2 houses away from me. My Dad went out there and grabbed the dog by the hind legs to pull it off the girl and her mother. My Mom called 911. My Dad was also bitten, but not badly. He held the dog down until police and ACO arrived. The dog had previously bitten the owner, his wife, and their 2 teenage daughters, but since it was their family dog they never reported any of it. The owner opted to have the dog put down. The little girl, who I went to school with all the way up until high school, needed stitches and extensive plastic surgery.

I hate to say it, but I also agree with gun idea.

You need to contact everyone and anyone with this. I would call the state police. The newpapers and even your local council person. If you have a video recorder, record the dog in your yard, record all the bites and bruises you have.
