rescued ex-fighting dog - horrid injuries - happy ending

This dog was found around here abandoned - horrid horrid injuries so if you are squeamish don't look

She is being treated by the SPCA and then will be fostered.  Her temperament is so sweet it is really extraordinary

Isn't it just beyond amazing how a dog so seriously injured and most probably badly treated by people can still be such a little lovebug?  I wish I could take her right this minute.

Big thanks to whoever picked her up and saved her from untold misery.

I know it is just amazing how happy and silly she is and while she is such a mess.  Gosh when she is healed up she'll be just a superb dog for someone!

I wasn't involved with his rescue but my second dog ever was an ex-bait dog.  He was in such awful shape that for a long time they misdiagnosed his tick disease symptoms as leftover trauma from the fighting.  It took literally years for the physical scars to become less noticeable, but he was incredibly happy and sunny temperamented right from the start.  I was trying to explain to mom how hard core dog fighting actually selects for dogs with steady, people-safe temperaments.  I forgot to remind her that her favorite dog of mine ever, Bubo, was from a busted dog fighting operation.

It always amazes me when I watch Animal Cops on Animal Planet how many fighting pits (or whatever breed) they impound and the dogs are wagging their tails and loving on the cops. Once two dogs at the same house got out together, and got into it while the cops were there, the cops stopped the fight (difficultly) and the dogs completely switched instantaneoulsy to sweet dogs. Both dogs had to be euthanized because it was the SPCA involved policy to not re home fighting dogs as they could not be sure of the tempermant 100% and couldn't take the liability. I always feel so bad for the dogs. It is NOT the dogs fault.

I hope this dog has the worlds happiest life. She deserves it.

that makes me sick(not the dog, or rescue....how she was treated)

I cant believe that people actually want to hurt these wonderful animals, and enjoy it!! its sick. can we sick a pack of dogs on the people that did this to that poor dog?

i hope she does well in foster care. hopefully shell get a good home with someone who actually cares.

geeze, I need to watch the news more/

I agree that it would be nice if we could do away with the people that engage in dog fighting. If we could call a war on dog fighting. Problem is, in this country, war is often rhetoric, as opposed to actually sending in troops with ensconced snipers with M-24's and taking them out as enemies of the state.

So, we must be ever diligent in our prosecution of dog fighters and not let up, ever. But getting city hall to prosecute dog fighters always takes second place to building another sports arena. And that's a sickness that is pandemic to society. If it sounds like I'm complaining because Dallas will spend more on the new Cowboy stadium than they can really afford but won't fix the relatively cheap costs of enforcing animal control by shutting down gangs that fight dogs, it's because I am complaining. And that goes to the heart of what is wrong with city hall. They would rather build a new stadium than take care of the more urgent problems.

The scumbags that participate in this type of act has no sense of care for animals, some don't even care for people. I would love to confront one of these people and just ask them why to see what their response would be.
