    A big iDog thank you!

As per my last post, many of you know that my shelter recently took in 30 dogs from a hoarding case in our area. A number of the dogs were able to be placed for adoption, but quite a few of those that were rescued were diagnosed with demodex. The treatment per the vet was going to be very pricey and our options were not looking very good for these dogs. CallieCritturs contacted me with her vast knowledge and experience with treating demo; she then proceeded to buy us the supplies we would need to treat ALL the demodex dogs and have it shipped to us!

I would like to take a moment to publicly thank CallieCritturs for this enormous and wonderful gesture. I cannot put into words how much we appreciate it and what it has done for staff morale, knowing we can treat the dogs and not have to PTS due to demodex. I've been going through a tough time personally (mom just went through a double mastectomy and is now undergoing chemo), with high turnover in staff at work, as well as be evacuated from our home during the recent flood, many days I'm not even sure which way is up anymore. Callie's overwhelming generosity has allowed us to treat these dogs and has eased my mind from having to make a decision about their fate that I was not looking forward to doing.

So a big THANK YOU to Callie for doing what she has done for us - I will be sure to keep everyone updated on the dogs' progress (I wish I could post current photos, but due to the impending cruelty charges, photos are considered evidence and cannot be shared) as well as "after" photos.

Way to go Callie!  As always you are an inspiration!  You were there for me too, during a very very tough time in my life.  I wonder how many others you have touched.

I wonder how many others you have touched.

I've been on this forum for five years.  And, I've read along as Callie has helped one dog and owner after another.

Willow and I are so lucky to have "met" her.  I feel very comforted by even just her internet presence when I'm going thru a rough time with Willow healthwise.

Thank you Callie AND DAVID, THANK YOU!!!

Way to Go Callie!  An inspiration!

I just emailed this thread to David.  He's the unsung hero SO often.  I never *ever* have to drag him into anything -- he's right there with me (or there before me).  In this case I didn't even have to "ask" -- he was right there making suggestions too, and absolutely supportive.

Gosh -- I had NO idea we were actually doing that much.  I just knew that nine demodex dogs would be a horrific strain on the budget and trying to assemble all you'd need would be more staff time than most shelters would have and I could just make it happen for you.  I'm thrilled that it's actually had such deep impact.

The stuff from *me* (the benzoyl peroxide and gloves and goodies) went out Friday Fed Ex "express" (which is like their 3 day, not overnight) but the last person I sent something to got it 'overnight' so I'm HOPING you get it today.

Let me know that the Leaves and Roots stuff got there pretty please?  And I gotta also mention that Carolyn, at Leaves and Roots gave me a small, but very important discount on what I had her drop ship to you (the echinacea and tea tree oil bottles for each dog).  She did that ALL on her own just to be nice!  http://www.leavesandroots.com -- She in no way competes with Dog.com -- she just sells a super good quality herb very reasonably.

The one little pup Ashley told me about who is really suffering with the itch -- give him an extra pet from me?? pretty please?  And all the others too.

Wow, that's wonderful Callie you rock!!!  It was very kind of you Stormy to share that with us as Callie isn't much for tooting her own horn.  ~ahem~  Wink   I'm glad for the dogs.

Callie, you and David are very special people.  I know you dont help us all for the recognition but I too am a recipient of your caring heart and kind words.  In fact I had left our community for a while and it was Shadow's cancer diagnosis that led me back and Callie's help with my grieving that kept me here.   Thanks to you for all you do!

Callie, you and David are truly inspiring human beings.  Every day I see your compassion and humor here on iDog and you both make me want to be better.

Thank you for being who you are and for your latest generosity in taking care of these poor demo dogs.

I do hope that karma really does work because you and David are due for some really great things!

I think it's safe to say that Callie and David are the bomb!  This just proves the point nine(?) fold.  We're all lucky to know someone so selfless and giving.  May it come back around to them. Big Smile
