    Mindless Chatter Wed

Not looking forward to today. I have training from 10-2. BORING!

I did meet up at the park this morning though regarding the disc dog competition I'm putting on next weekend. I'm so excited! I hope it goes well.

I re-injured my ankle last night. I got run over by 5 sheep and flattened on my ***. that was my first time officially falling. It had to happen sooner or later.  I was so happy though even the fall and the pain didn't bother me. My trainer helped me finally find that sweet spot with Lily. The point where my pressure becomes too much and she'll turn off. Now that I know exactly how much pressure and what I have to do so she doesn't feel pressured, I think we will make a lot of progress. Basically, she feels pressure if I'm faced towards her in ANY way. So, if she can see the front of my body, she will go away from the sheep and stop working. I learned how to work with that though. I learned exactly when to turn towards her to get her to move back and when to turn away from her to get her back on the sheep where I want her. It was very cool. Even the trainer said "GREAT HANDLING JULIE!"

I also worked Neiko in the large pen. He was much much better last night. However, we did have one incident where Lily and Neiko snuck under the gate and ran in to the large sheep pen. Oy! Thankfully, an expert BC was there to save the day and counter every move Neiko and Lily made so the sheep didn't go nuts. This BC is used to helping newbie dogs herd so he went to work right away when he saw my 2 move in. After a few mins of yelling at my dogs and chasing them, trying to block them from the sheep (I was SO ANGRY!) I finally got them to stop.

Needless to say, after all that, my ankle is hearting pretty bad today.

I'm sorry about your ankle :( Sounds like a really exciting evening, though! Post pictures of the disc dog competition, if you get a chance to take any? I'm jealous, it sounds like you have such a great time with your dogs! :)

I'm going out today for my weekly horseback riding lesson... my beloved former trainer recently left the barn, so I've been shoved off to a new trainer whom I really don't like. She spent the whole last lesson dodging my questions and accusing me of being drunk when I didn't perfectly follow her confusing directions. I think I'm either going to switch trainers within the barn (if I can - most of them are fully booked) or switch barns, or maybe, if I'm feeling really ballsy today, tell her to pay attention and stop being a jerk while she's on *my* dime!

In better news, it's a gorgeous day (finally!) and should be really nice out all afternoon :)

WOAH!  And you're paying her for that!?  I don't blame you for wanting to switch trainers or barns.  That is completely out of line.

I wish work was over b/c I have a busy evening tonight.  I gotta go meet w/ the insurance person to pick up my papers for my new car insurance policy (that woman is awesome, she saved me $100 every 6 months, sweet!) then go meet w/ our pastor who was doing our counselling, and then I'm going out to ladies night w/ my step sister and her friend.  The guys at work were telling me what I need to drink.  I think they just want to see me come in w/ a hang over tomorrow morning  :o

Oh and of course, taking care of the dogs fits in there as well.  I have my fingers crossed that I get a call from the vet saying that they've had a cancellation and I can have my friend take Co-Co in to have her lump checked out.  I hate not knowing what's going on.

I feel crummy today.  Sometimes being a girl just interferes w/the other things you need to do and be in life!  I have my exam tonight and I did not study enough yesterday.  I'm just wiped out.

I would much rather have taken off from work than be sitting here right now... *sigh*

DH is off to Vegas today...for work.

I've been kinda stressed lately so I'm planning on a nice long walk with the boys, a light dinner, and early to bed.  As long as some family member doesn't call me asking me to fix some situation for them I'll be fine....hmmm...maybe that is why they invented caller id!

I did find a dress for the multiple weddings I'm going to!  It's a dark teal colour and I'm loving it and it's pricetag!

When I was out east Cita, the farm I worked at rode with a BIG name barn, staffed by several big named trainers. You never knew when you showed up for lessons who you would lesson with. There was one there I could not stand. I went for a lesson once on my horse and we were warming up and the trainer I did not like said "I will be right back". I looked at my friend sharing my lesson and said "if he is teaching I am putting my horse back on the van. I will NOT pay for a lesson from him!". In one lesson with my friend (regular customer I would take her horse for her to the lesson) he called her 30 (I counted) different names. That did not include repeats. I told her it is not worth paying for that. My point, it is your money. If you can not get into one of the other trainers you do like, move. Can you go where your trainer moved to? How dare that trainer to call you drunk! I would have words with someone about that. People do not have to be rude.

Gorgeous day here. I actually have plans to ride my horse tonight. My in-laws had an appointment in town so they took me to lunch. We do not get to leave the premise unless we have alternative transportation because you can not re-park. It is so nice to get out. I have a happy tummy from my fabulous lunch too!

My dog is a doof!!! She's taken to leaving her toys on the window sill. *sigh* Lol. And why is it, I can give her a marrow bone, she'll ignore it for like a month but if my neighbor gives her one, she eats it in one night?!  So not fair! Lol. And she decided to eat it on my bed while hiding it under the blanket.. She knows she's not allowed to chew bones on the bed but her crate is still put away. I could hear chewing so I asked Alex if he could see anything. He said no so I forgot about it until I heard more chewing and looked for myself. There she is with the most guiltiest look on her face! Lol. It was priceless. I just moved her and the bone off the bed and threw the blanket in the wash. Thank god there wasn't any meat or blood on the bone.

Has anyone tried that My Weight Loss Coach for the DS? I'm thinking about buying cuz I need something I can use all the time without waiting for the computer to warm up.  I'm thinking about starting a running routine tomorrow morning.  I'd start tonight but I prefer to start when no one can see me until I don't look like an out of shape dork. Lol. Smile I figure I'll start at about 5:30 - 6 am and go for about 20 minutes to get started. I'm gonna be sore! And Maze could use the exercise.  Any advice on getting started would be great! Big Smile

Today is gonna be an indoor day.. At 8:30am it was already 70 out. *dies*  So I'm gonna clean the kitchen and bake dog cookies. And I've influenced Alex!! He went to the food bank yesterday and they have eggs there. The only reason he picked up eggs was so I could make cookies. Lol!  I think I'm gonna freeze them this time. They went mouldy while sitting on the counter. At the end of the month I'm gonna pick up some of those Glad air tight containers and see if those work.

On the contrary - I think she's given them a job as "look-out"... so that she can go counter-surfing, or snoozing on your bed, or any other such naughtiness while her stuffy buddies will sound the alert when you come home.  I think she's a very smart girl!!

    • Gold Top Dog

That may be except she does it when we're home.. Lol. And thankfully she doesn't counter surf cuz she's to short. Big Smile

Holy poop Bugsy just growled - first time ever - and we have no idea at what.  He got all excited about something and was looking out the window and growled.  I couldn't see anything so I went out with him and he was so worked up.  He barked when a bird went by - he never barks and it was clear he was spooked.  Very strange.  He's been acting strange anyway he keeps sniffing at things in the house.  Weird.

Riding Instructors or trainers as you guys call them, you either love them or hate them. I did have one that I really used to get up me, I often hated him but boy could he get me doing things I would never imagine I would do, he was the one that got me confident jumping high now I can't be stopped hehe. So not always are rude/annoying instructors a bad thing.

Puppies up to no good try feeding time at my house, I live in a tiny one bedroom shed(hehe yes I live in a shed) I have two dogs & two cats. My big boy is fussy but since the arrival of the puppy has been eating really well, but all of a sudden has got fussy again, the cats are always straving. But the pup is a hoover & loves food. So I feed the cats when we go for a walk(morning or night) & then race in get their bowls up then feed the dogs. But of late poor Chip has to deal with a pup staring at him, Sabbath(cat) just helping herself to his food. It's madness, the only one in the house that can eat in peace is me cause they all know not to mess with me. I feel tired after feeding them cause I am watching puppy throwing the cat outside and telling Chip it's alright "Tucker Time" Sleep

    Oh poor Chippie

So the little cafeteria snackbar type thing we've started at my parents laundromat has really taken off.  Last year at the end of the year, when we just had pizza slices, we had about a 15 or 20 minute rush at lunch.  We are now selling hotdogs, fries, poutine, and pizza, plus the slush puppies and some other drinks and candy and chips.  We have a zoo from about 11:30 until 12:30 or so and there are still kids that come in everyday that exclaim how much it has changed in there since they last saw it.  Plus lots of adults have been straggling in as well.  When we started we were just thinking of getting the lunch crowd from the highschool across the street.  Well we've got that now, with tons more potential, and now regular people off the street.  We made fries all afternoon today.  My dad is really happy, happier than I've seen him in months.  I'm glad.

    They have a Weight Watchers Coach for the DS?!  {Off to Google...again...}

That made me glad too!  Congrats

Thanks.  The whole thing is kind of fun actually.  At least right now it is.  I've always been kind of good with kids.  And its fun to interact with the highschool kids and remember that they aren't all a bunch of snot nosed brats.  There are some that have been coming there since day one and others that are newer.  Some of the boys try and flirt with me...which is funny.  I bring Kelci with me and she sits on the table and sleeps in her car seat(as long as I time it right) through the lunch hour so lots of the girls go over to admire her.

Lots of the kids already have "Usuals" and they all seem totally amazed when I remember what they are before they ask.  I lent one kid a whopping 60 cents yesterday so he could get a dollar bag of candy and he came in first thing and made a big deal of paying me back today.  I thought it was cute.  I totally forgot about lending it to him in the first place.

In the beginning, lots of the kids wouldn't even smile or say hello.  Its nice to see them coming around and feeling more and more comfortable.  I had to laugh yesterday.  One kid that I hadn't seen before got rather snotty with me, just basically no manners, and the three kids behind him in line put him in his place.   One said,"Say Please..." and the other said,"Now Say Thank You..."  I just kind of smiled and said,"Your Welcome!"Big Smile

That's awesome!  I love working with teens - most people don't but I just love it!  They can be soo funny.

anyway why are TV commercials soooooooooooooo much louder than the show?  Irritating!

Dumb Bugsy has finally crashed - he didn't want to go outside for his pee - I wonder what spooked him?  there have been some coyote sightings in the neighborhood but I wouldn't have thought they would be in this cul de sac as it isn't very wooded and also we saw one once before and he wasn't concerned
