Not looking forward to today. I have training from 10-2. BORING!
I did meet up at the park this morning though regarding the disc dog competition I'm putting on next weekend. I'm so excited! I hope it goes well.
I re-injured my ankle last night. I got run over by 5 sheep and flattened on my ***. that was my first time officially falling. It had to happen sooner or later. I was so happy though even the fall and the pain didn't bother me. My trainer helped me finally find that sweet spot with Lily. The point where my pressure becomes too much and she'll turn off. Now that I know exactly how much pressure and what I have to do so she doesn't feel pressured, I think we will make a lot of progress. Basically, she feels pressure if I'm faced towards her in ANY way. So, if she can see the front of my body, she will go away from the sheep and stop working. I learned how to work with that though. I learned exactly when to turn towards her to get her to move back and when to turn away from her to get her back on the sheep where I want her. It was very cool. Even the trainer said "GREAT HANDLING JULIE!"
I also worked Neiko in the large pen. He was much much better last night. However, we did have one incident where Lily and Neiko snuck under the gate and ran in to the large sheep pen. Oy! Thankfully, an expert BC was there to save the day and counter every move Neiko and Lily made so the sheep didn't go nuts. This BC is used to helping newbie dogs herd so he went to work right away when he saw my 2 move in. After a few mins of yelling at my dogs and chasing them, trying to block them from the sheep (I was SO ANGRY!) I finally got them to stop.
Needless to say, after all that, my ankle is hearting pretty bad today.
