Some pics of Riley, and views on his weight?

    Hi,

I meant to post this yesterday but just got the electricity in our house back (it was out for 24 hours. over a quarter of a million people in my county were/are without power, because of the remnants of Hurricane Ike. I live in Ohio and we always get the tail ends of things that happen down south). Anyway, here are some pics of Riley I took a few days ago at some parks.

I would love it if people could comment on his weight and if they think he needs to lose or gain any. I don't know how much he weighs, will have to wait til the next vet appt but he's almost 29" tall.

Here's some you can see his body shape in well...

    View from the top:

I was making a funny noise to get him to look at the camera...

This next pic was taken at a different park than the ones above, but I love how he looks w/ his eyes shut LOL. Silly boy!

    Thanks for looking everyone!

it's kinda hard to tell with all that hair- but I think he looks like he's at a good weight.

I like to be able to feel, but not see, the ribs. =]

he is certainly a handsome boy

My friend breeds irish setters - all her adults look pretty much like yours, they're a super slender breed :) She had one named Riley too!

I think he looks pretty good in my opnion - but I'm no expert.

He's beautiful! And I think he looks to be at a great weight. :)

Am I the only one that thinks he looks a bit skinny? On the first photo the most...

But I do think that almost all Irish setters look skinny, so maybe I have a problem with judging it...Wink

No.  For a full grown dog he looks a little thin,(not really enough to be worried about, tho).  But he's only 1.5 years old, and he's not done growing yet.  He'll start filling out soon. For his age he looks real good.   Smile  Besides, I'd rather see a dog a couple of pounds underweight (not starving) then over weight.

This pic is hilarious!! I love his expression! And about the weight I think he looks good for a pup.

No - Setters are prone to hip problems, so it's always better to stay on the thinner side of the scale. He'll fill out as he gets a bit older - but as for 'fatty weight' - you don't want too much on them =]
