we tend to agree on favorite breeds - weimaraner, ridgeback, dane, vizsla, german shorthair are the main ones

but DH always says what he'd like is another Bugsy - which to me is so cute - so I suppose his favorite is a large shorthaired athletic mutt!

Like me DH is completely sold on rescue

Well I have to add something: DH actually likes a lot Komondors and Pulis because of the cords. I don't think we will get one of those... we are not into grooming, so don't worry! And about the breeders, yes, if we get another puppy we will research and ask a lot first, or maybe, we will get a rescue. We will see, for now, we are great with Thor and that's it.

Dh is in to Mastiffs, Great Danes and Rotti. But over all he likes mutts  He's always talking about getting a Mastiff mix or a Dane mix so when the time comes when we have the room for his dogs, we're looking to rescues and shelters. Smile

The breeds David seems to like the best are:

    Brittany

Australian shepherd (we transported a deaf Aussie once that he was in love with)

    Border collie

Puli (I think this is his #1)

Samoyed (his first dog was a Puli/Samoyed mix)

And he LOVES mutts, which I totally agree with.

Well my whole family loves Irish Setters (if Riley were not an Irish Setter, I NEVER would have been allowed to adopt him, lol). They do like other breeds too of course. My sister really likes labs and Irish Wolfhounds. My dad likes Basset Hounds and Black and Tan Coonhounds. My mom likes Goldens and Collies.

But given the choice between any of those breeds and an IS, there is no doubt in my mind my parents would go straight for the Irish.

Jeremy likes chocolate labs, golden retrievers, pugs, and beagles. My brother is in LOVE with huskies and yellow labs. My Dad also loves yellow labs, springers (previously owned 2 of them), and german shepherds (previously owned 3 of them). My Mom really likes long haired daschunds, and would like to own one one day. My Grandma liked anything tiny (under 10lbs)....until she met Apollo. Now she LOVES him (he's 110lbs!).

My DH loves Frenchies too! I think we will have one when we are old and not active enough for Aussies anymore.

My DH also loves Clumber Spaniels, any bully breed, and Aussies. We see pretty eye-to-eye on the dogs. He wasn't psyched about Aussies at first, but Luna chose him the minute she came home and now he can't imagine not having at least one. Good girl Luna!

DH is mesmerized by Gordon Setters. His family has always had Irish Setters but he just loves the Gordon's colorings.

Tyler likes Beagles and Pugs...seperately at least.

    neat thread!

Newfies or malamutes are the only ones he's ever expressely expressed interest in.

Once, when we were contemplating dogs and how great our first dog Yukon was, even though we only had him two years and DBF said "Yeah, he was a great first dog. Everyone should adopt old dogs as their first dogs because they're so easy"

Out of the mouth of babes, I swear!  I was so proud!

BF is obsessed with sheps! He also would kill for a dane, and loves rotties. He also really likes cockers.

I didn't even need to ask DH.  He likes mutts.  Preferably ones from a shelter.  I've taught him well. :o)

RE: Papillons.  Don't kid yourself.  They are not all little foofy, lap tumors.  They can be quite active, some make great agility dogs, obedience dogs, therapy, assistance dogs.  They can pretty much do anything except personal protection.

Well, yeah, *I* know that, but *HE* doesn't. :P The only pap he really knows is one that's a training client of mine, who *IS* a lap tumor. :P
