Well, I wasn't sure where to put this since it's dog-related, and event related - but I didn't want people to think it's a local event, but it's kind of mostly people related too.
A friend of mine has been plugging away at the sheepdog training for as long as I have, with disabling health conditions hampering her progress. Her determination has been a real inspiration especially to whiners like me who let a little arthritis and migraine problems get in the way of my training. The last two years Joan has been battling Ovarian Cancer.
We are having a herding trial to benefit Ovarian Cancer research. This is a USBCHA type event, but the neat thing is that you can enter ANY dog in this one, in any class. You don't have to be there. Your dog doesn't have to be a Border Collie or even a herding breed. Your dog doesn't even have to be alive, real, or even a dog.
"In spirit" entries that are received by September 18 will be printed in the running order, and you will receive a copy of the program showing your dog/cat/bird/pig running with famous names in the Border Collie world.
Proceeds will go specifically to the Gail Perkins Memorial Walk - Joan Stout-Knight's team.
Just download and print out the form below - be sure to note in spirit - classes are novice-novice (lowest), Pronovice (middle), Ranch (highest), and Nursery (dogs under three and a half years old). OBviously it doesn't matter what class you pick if you will not be there, but it's fun to see your dog run with the big dogs or the baby dogs. In spirit entries do not affect any standing in current competions you are in. You also don't have to sign the waiver if you won't be there!
