    Mindless Chatter - TGIF!!

Wohoo! Friday is here! 3 day weekend ahead with good weather in the forecast. Happy days!

I don't have big plans for this weekend though. Get my house cleaned. Get my hot tub running. Maybe do some sheep herding (maybe) and go to a labor day BBQ on Monday. It should be a nice, fairly relaxing, stress free weekend.  I'm looking forward to it! If I get ambitious, maybe I'll paint. (yeah right)

Neiko did a complete back vault yesterday and caught the frisbee too! We have been having trouble with the frisbee catching part but everything came together finally! Now I have big scratch marks on my back though - ouch. I didn't dress accordingly. I will have to wear a couple of sweatshirts next time we practice. I also have a big knot on the back of my head, behind my ear from where he knocked me with his knee bone on one of our attempts. That hurt this morning while trying to wash my hair in the shower! I'm happy that we finally got it though.

Sounds like it's time to get one of theose vests for use in frisbee training.  I know someone who has one and she swears by it to protect her back during vaults.

I'm currently quite annoyed, have been since Tuesday really.  The reason?  I work a T-Sat. schedule due to teaching classes.  I emailed my boss last week about taking Saturday as my Labor Day holiday since I'm already off on Mondays.  After abour 4 or 5 days she emails me back on Tuesday to explain "it doesn't work like that" and that I can't take Saturday off unless I use vacation time.  I looked on the calendar and due to this turn of events, of the 8 holidays most staff get, I will miss *5* because they fall on a Monday.  That's five paid days off I miss just because my schedule has to be different to accomodate my job requirements.  How freakin' dumb is that!?

I'm sooooo tired, my eyes are burning.  DH and I were up late.  Then I woke up in the early morning (still pitch dark) b/c I smelled poop.  Someone had blast-pooped on the hardwood floor in the bedroom (both dogs have "issues" right now).  So I had to scrub all that up and launder the bedding.  I was dripping with sweat b/c it's so humid and now matter how clean the floor was I still had a poop smell in my nose so I took a long, cold shower.  I went back to bed but probably only slept for 15 minutes, then had to get up for work.

I was looking forward to taking a nap after work but remember we are driving to Marshall to see our puppy.  Our club is hosting a CGC test tonight so we are probably taking Coke along.  He's not my "club dog" but Kenya has already passed three times.  I have no expectation Coke will pass since I just found out about the test on Monday and haven't even been working with him since he's been sick on and off.

I was supposed to borrow my mom's car to see the puppies b/c my engine has been getting very hot.  DH thought coolant was leaking so he had an appt. for Wed.  Last night we went out for dinner and the restaurant is around the block (usually we walk but we had other errands to run) and it got all the way hot so on a whim we went across the street to Valvoline and they fixed it.  I think we'll keep the appt with the mechanic b/c my muffler is very loud.

    Soooooo tired.Sleep  Need coffee.

I don't want to jinx anything but I going to break down & say it anyway...Bevo is walking normal.  No hitch in his stride, no lifting his foot when he's standing, nothing.  His stride is as smooth as ever.

Have I mentioned that I hate hurricanes?  Stupid Gustav is ruining our weekend plans.  We were supposed to be going to the Longhorn game tomorrow against Flordia Atlantic.  (We are retiring Vince Young's number tomorrow!)  Instead, we are heading for the beach because the beach house needs to be boarded up incase Gustav does hit the upper Texas coast.  DH & I are at odds over when we want to go.  I would prefer drive down tonight.  DH wants to go in the morning.  It is a 6 hour drive, so I think it would be easier, & less stressful on both us & the dogs if we went tonight, slept there, got the work done in the morning, & then drove back home.  I really don't like the thought of 12 hours of driving tomorrow.  I guess that we shall see what we can work out.

Amanda, I don't know if they have them in TX, but my town has companies that will board up beach houses. I'm not sure how expensive it is but I know a lot of out-of-towners use them.

I'm at an in-class orientation for an online class and it's super duper boring Sleep

My mother in law is out of control!  Although, I can't say that I'm not enjoying it.  ;)  I just got a box in the mail that had 25 baby outfits in it! And she said she has more to send.  She is so excited we are having a girl she can hardly stand it.  She had 2 boys and her other son has also had 2 boys.  Although she has my stepdaughter, no one knew about her until after she was born so she didn't get to go hog wild buying stuff in the 9 month period before she was born.  Plus, that was 12 years ago!  lol

I took the day off today and made it into a 4 day weekend.  I am meeting my dad for lunch and then getting my hair and toes done.  My boss has already called me twice today but I told her I was only available until 11 so I am not going to answer the phone anymore.  Hubby is leaving in the morning for southeast Texas to go to his new lease to pick out his hunting spot.  I am a little worried about Gustav as well but thinking that since it is more east than south, he will probably get a lot of rain but hopefully not too much wind.  I hate for him to be out in the raw wilderness during bad weather.

Hope everyone has a safe but fun weekend!

I was thinking about you earlier today - did he have the surgery?  I remember it was put off the end of last week but have I missed the interim news??

Why am I awake?!?!  I just rolled over and woke up. *sigh* And I haven't been sleeping through the nights for the past week. I keep waking up at 4, 5, 6am every morning..

I wanna go camping but I can't since Fall is already here. They're calling for 4 days of storms.. DUMB!  But Alex is on Dog Duty since I can't walk properly for the next couple of weeks. And my neighbor has lended me her car for whenever I need to go shopping so we're going up later today and I'm going to try my hand at making dog cookies. Wish me luck! Lol.

No surgery yet.  I talked to the surgeon again today, & since he's still not sure exactly what is wrong with the knee, we are going to confine him for another week, then increase his workload  the following week.  If anything goes wrong then they will explore the knee, & fix whatever it is that's wrong.

Looking forward to leaving town tomorrow.  Going up to Seattle to visit my sister and check out Bumbershoot... www.bumbershoot.org - a big music festival with some pretty big names.  It will be nice to get away from recent angst.  Only good part about the angst was losing 8lbs in a week.  Sometimes stress just pushes the way you need.

I enrolled for more school, wizzed thru the placement exams yesterday, but have put off the math ones... as much as I use Algebra every day, I need a brush up on the more detailed stuff since it's been 15 years since I got my last A in that subject!

That sounds FUN! I love outdoor music festivals. Have a great time!
