    I think I broke my foot..(Oranges81)(Update)

I'm not sure yet as I can't get in to a doctor til Friday unless I go to the walk-in clinic tomorrow.. Don't know yet. I'll see how it feels tomorrow..

Last night we had company come over with their dogs and normally I'm pretty good at putting bones up when they arrive so Maze doesn't get growly and protective. Well last night I forgot and one the dogs sniffed the the bone and Maze flew at him to grab the bone. I spun around to grab her and foolish me, instead of grabbing her tail (which was closest) I reached for her collar.  Well my left ankle went out from under me and bent right up to touch the inside of my leg, my knee collapsed and I fell, landing on said foot (while I've still got a handle on Maze). As I landed on the floor I felt my foot (not my ankle) crack and I had a throbbing pain in the top of my foot.  I put it up last night and Maze stayed glued to my side for the rest of the night.

Well this morning, we went for our morning walk and about 5 minutes into it, I could feel a prominate grinding in the top of my foot. So it was a SHORT walk this morning. And it's swelling up nicely so I put a bandage on it to keep it from moving and Alex is walking the dog for me today.

But DANG does it hurt!!! And I know the entire episode could have been prevented if I just remembered to pick up that DAMN bone!  it's the only toy she's really protective over because the one dog that comes over loves to chew on it and ends up destroying it before Maze gets a chance to.

*sigh* Lesson learned. Lol. Healing vibes would be nice Smile

Don't worry about whether you should have picked up the bone or not!  Get feeling better and get checked out!

Well I'm going to the walk in clinic tomorrow. I really don't want to but it seems my foot is getting worse. I took of the bandage and applied some ice and it seems that the swelling is getting worse. And it hurts even more! AND I don't have any pain killers here! I forgot to get my presricption filled.. *sigh*

    I hate DOCTORS!

Oh dear!  I hope that you didn't break it and that it is something with a quick fix.

Healing vibes and pointer kisses heading your way!!!

As my Mum always says "You don't hate the person who is the doctor/dentist, you just hate what they have to do to help you".

That may be true in your case. But not here. Doctors here don't care about the patient it seems. Majority of them just push pills.

BUT! I did go to the doctor and got X-rays. Turns out my foot is not broken but really badly sprained to the point where it should have broke. So instead of a cast I get a tensor bandage and crutches til I can walk on my own again. *sigh* I would have preferred the cast..

It sounds like you have a broken foot. You really need to see a doctor and get an x-ray to make sure the fracture didn't allow the bones to go out of alignment. Otherwise a reduction (resetting the bone into alignment, painful) may be necessary. Plus, they might prescribe you Lortab (codeine and Tylenol mix) so make sure you know of any allergies to Tylenol. What they will do is immobilize your foot, probably with a removable, adjustable foot brace that looks like a half a ski boot and get you some crutches and tell you to take it easy on that foot for at least 3 to 4 weeks. The last time I broke a toe, I had no vacation time and the company doesn't have sick days. Walking across a construction site and being on your feet for 8 hours is not as easy as it sounds.

Currently, I have a broken finger, actually the fingertip of the middle finger of my left hand. But generally, I just take motrin. I had some Lortab left over from the dentist and I only took that in the evening after being at Primacare. They had to make a hole in fingernail to drain the blood. It started to hurt some more when the doc was pressing on my broken fingertip to encourage the drainage.

I feel your pain and I hope you get it taken care of.

Crap! We were posting at the same time. Oh well, never mind.

Oh well! Still glad to hear what they would have done.

As it is they didn't even give me anything for the pain!  Not even a suggestion.

Never had a broken finger but I have shut my thumb in a car door so hard I killed the nail and to have the blood drained as well.. I'd rather not break a finger thank you. Smile

And Maze is TERRIFIED of my crutches when I use them.  Hehehe
