I failed my driving test!

    I failed my driving test!

Ugh!! And it's SUCH a shock. This morning I took my driving test to get my license. First we did the maneuverability part, which was the only part I was worried about. But I only missed 2 pts on that total, just for stopping once to check my progress. So then I did the whole road test and thought things were going well...I maintained a steady speed and never went over the limit, used my mirrors right, used my turn signals correctly, went in all the right lanes, stopped and turn at intersections fine, yielded to oncoming traffic, etc........I MISSED 44 points!!! I don't understand how this is possible. I don't mean to sound arrogant but I swear you guys I am a good driver and there is NO way I deserved to fail, let alone get marked off 44 pts! I did NOT check my blind spot which I should have, so I missed 10 points for that and I totally understand there...but I also missed points for my windshield wipers being too dirty. We were going to replace them before the test but didn't have time (it was at 9am). She (the instructor) said I made my right turn too slow/short, but I really didn't see a problem there worth docking me 5 points. I think I turned fine. She also marked me off for putting my turn signals on too late. I have NO idea how - I put them on in plenty of time before I reached a stop at a traffic light, and with plenty of notice before switching lanes.

Now, I'm being honest when I saw the instructor was not in a good mood and was not very friendly. When we were walking out to the parking lot to begin the test, I asked her how her day was and she rolled her eyes and tossed her head up in exasperation, like it was going horribly. Mmmkay, not a good sign. Then when we got in the car she complained that her seat was too far forward and needed it pushed back (my dad was sitting there earlier, so it should've been just fine). I could just tell she did not want to be doing this, and was not having a good day.

I still can't believe it... I've had my permit for 7 months and my parents, friends, sister, etc. all say I drive well. *sigh* But even my mom said, when I talked to her a little bit ago, that sometimes it just depends on the instructor you get - some are very, very strict and some are more relaxed. See, I would be fine with this if I knew that I really wasn't a safe driver but I swear this lady was just nitpicky and not having a good day to begin with. Luckily I retake it next Wednesday and I know that then I will pass (esp. since I'm going to ask for a different instructor).

Sorry, I just had to vent. School starts tomorrow and I'll have to get rides home with friends for a few days. Ok, melodramatic rant over. : P

ETA ~ oh, and when I was done with the test and she told me I failed the driving part, I couldn't help but cry very obviously and she didn't even offer a little word of encouragement like "Just practice and you can retake it", she just listed what I did wrong and got out of the car.

Wow this turned out to be realllly long. It's just not been a good day.

aww, I'm sorry you didn't pass!  It is such a shame that getting your licence sits in one person's hands, and it's true, if they are having a bad day they can and will take it out on the people doing their tests.    But don't feel bad!  I am glad you are re taking the test!

    Good luck!!

Seriously?? I've never heard of that before. Wow, I'm sorry you failed but don't take it too hard. My aunt just failed her driving test and she's been driving for a bazillion years. The 2 things they dinged her on were ridiculous and I'd have failed too. Now that you know what they're looking for, you'll do great next week.

I forgot to mention lol I failed my G1 test, which is the written test lol.  And I, too, have never heard about points taken off for the windsheild wipers!  That's nuts!

Yeah, you'll past next time, no worries.  It will be the beginning of the month.  She probably passed too many people this month and had to FIND things to fail you for... hence the reason she seemed overly nit picky to you.  Stick out tongue  Try not to sweat over it Big Smile

Sounds like you got dinged for quite a few petty things.  Dirty windshield wipers??? Maybe next time you can get a different instructor.
