Jeans are finally making sense again Yeah !!

I like my jeans somewhat low too.  I can't stand having pants up to my belly button.  I carry the most weight around my middle so jeans as a whole just suck on me.  Right now, I wouldn't even wear a pair due to extreme post baby muffin top.  Ew....

Candace - LOL - "extreme post baby muffin top"

I carry a little pudge in that area and haven't given birth in 20 years!  I was pretty slender until I went back on the pill a few years ago.  Off the pill, lost most of that weight, but once I hit 40, the last few pounds don't want to leave.  I've never ever been able to wear low-rise jeans because of that pudgy area.

Peasant tops need to go away.  Because I carry that little pudge area in my tummy, peasant tops always make me look pregnant (even when I was skinny)!

ITS NOT FUNNYYYYYYY!!!Crying  That reminds me, some lady asked me at the fair, when my baby was due....I pointed behind me at my niece that was holding Kelci and said, "She should be here any minute now."  I'm not sure who was more embarrased, me or that lady.

I learned the hard way never to ask someone I don't know really, really well when their baby is due.  The one time I did  that .... not only was the person not pregnant - the person wasn't a woman. *sigh*

Oh, I wasn't laughing about your tummy - just at your description.  I know how frustrating it is.  Good comeback to the nosy lady at the fair.  You should not be embarrassed at all - she should have been.  You are what, 3 weeks post-partum?  Give yourself a break.  Three kids and two of those very close together - it just takes a little more time for your body to bounce back.

Joyce, now that is definitely worth a ROFLMAO!

I'm looking forward to shopping in Western/tack stores again, once I've lost maybe twenty more pounds (half of the rest of what I need to!).  THAT  is what I wore up to when I left college and got a job in corporate America, and never should have stopped.  Western cut jeans are sized small but cut the right way for how I'm shaped (normally) - roomy through the thighs and snug in the waist.  I'm from San Francisco and formerly never shopped anywhere but at the Levis outlet.  *weeping bitter tears at the thought of paying full price for Levis button flys*

Western style shirts hide my slouchy rounded posture (though pilates has improved this), and odd, er, front structure.  But plaid looks horrible on heavy people and I won't make that mistake - lol!

Here's a question - does anyone know where I can find a denim skirt that is straight cut and jeans-style?  Ie, fly front, five pocket, double-stitched seams, etc.  Last year I decided that even if I started losing weight I'd never get back into many of my old clothes before they fell to pieces from old age.  So I tossed anything size 16 and under, including a favorite skirt styled like that.  It was wonderful because I could wear it to church with a casual top, then throw on a pair of jeans and make it in time for my class at a herding competition.  I could even wear it out on the field!  Anyway, I'm a sixteen again already - thank you Weight Watchers - so now I'm looking to replace that gem.

If you know the number of the Levi's and your size, you might be able to find them on ebay :)

I have been having problems with super lowcut jeans that have been in style.  It's not about looks, since I'm twig skinny at 97 pounds, but if I actually wear my size, the low ones feel like major croach huggers and it feels like a perpetual wedgie... can't even imagine what it would be like trying to fit a pad in there when on my monthly cycle.  Of course then if I go a little larger they are too loose around the waist so bending over results in major gap to show off my undies.  Hence I've been buying mine in the kids section in the teen area since they have styles that aren't as overkill, lowcut as what you find in the Juniors sections.  Also like getting shorts there since they have styles are a little longer on the leg... Indifferent

I like low & super low rise jeans.

Me too, nice boot cut and a pair of heels and I'm good to go for the night.  Of course, going from a size 18 to a 4 has definately changed how I feel about jeans and clothes in general.

Wow Lori, that's a big size drop!  Congrats.

Congrats on that! That's huge!! The closest I've come to that in my adult years was a size 8 - which lasted about 2 weeks then I was back up again. I loved how jeans looked at a size 8 though! I still have those size 8's......one day I'll wear them again.

Joyce, that is way too funny.

    Wow...Lori that's huge.  GREAT job.

I like mid rise - but i still have to be carefull - i have to do the squat test - if anything is showing they're going back on the rack!! lol

I've recently delved into the world of making my own clothes. I"m making a pair of 'pants' right now.  My first try - i did the back seam totally wrong. but I think they're turning out pretty good!!  i like that I can choose how they fit.

oh one thing i can't really understand is how i'm almost considered a 'plus' size!?!  the pattern i used for these pants had one more size up & thats it!  same thing with snowboard pants - two years ago I wore a size 13/14 and that was as big as they got!

this fabric was on clearance so I thought they'd make good pants. little on the shiny side. but whatever ..lol

I think I would dance for joy if I ever got down to the single digits again....strike that...I will dance for joy when I get down to the single digits again.

I'm not picky on rise, it really depends on the style of the pants as a whole.  My favorite casual jeans are low rise, my dressy work jeans I fold with a seam down the front and are "regular" or whatever you want to call it.  The super-low rise fad was a tad annoying, not because I wouldn't wear them (wouldn't be my first choice though) but I can't wear stuff like that to work even though we do dress pretty casual.  However I've never really had trouble finding nice pants that aren't too dressy at Gap, Gap Outlet, and New York & Co.  I have a few pairs of jeans I like but I'm more of a khakis and chinos girl.  My favorite pairs of pants are my casual black chinos (they are a more formal cut, but the material is very soft and casual so I wear them like jeans) and an olive green pair of "surplus" style khakis (drawstring, looser fit).  One thing I don't like are regular 5-pocket pants.  I have much better luck with patch pockets or the slanty side pockets.  I've gone from a size 8/10 to a size 2/4 but I've never had trouble finding pants, I'm a pants-o-holic!  I'm way pickier about tops since everything is always too trendy and/or too much plunging neckline for me (I have a smaller chest and I'm always cold....it never ceases to amaze me how many "winter" sweaters have such gaping V-necks!).
