    Mindless Chatter - Saturday/Sunday

I needed to get some stuff from the Vitamin Shoppe and so I took Shadow with me (ulterior motive). The nearest Vitamin Shoppe is in Plano, Tx on the outskirts of Collin Creek Mall, near the Plano Parkway Exit from US 75 (if you're driving south). What is also in Plano is Canine Comissary at 15th and Custer, where they have these excellent locally made treats made out of smoked turkey and stuff. I've seen Shadow run through all the obedience moves he knows in succession trying to get one. And they had a local rescue there, with cats and dogs available. And a doggie scale. Shadow is holding at 65 lbs. at 5 years old. For adoption they had a 9 month old GSD mix and a slightly older Pit Bull that had some good Am Staff lines, though not knowing enough, I couldn't tell if she was purebred. And some north american Shorthair Tabbies, one gray and black tiger strip and one white and black Jellico. And we saw a retired Greyhound with a bum leg. And Shadow got to trade sniffs with a Westie (I think) coming out of the groomer's side door.

Then I stopped at Albertson's in McKinney to get stuff for dinner. Petite sirloin steaks and sweet potatos so that I can make my cajun mashed sweet potatos. The steaks are marinating in a garlic and herb concoction and I will cook them on the grill.

Today's high was around 82 F. About 20 degrees cooler than it usually is this time of year. We have a upper low parked out west shaking hands with a canadian cold front, which is a bit early in the year.

This is the first I've been able to get on the computer all day and I'm neglecting my dishes for it.  Don't you all feel special?  LOL.  Ya I know, its all about me.  Tyler is fixing someone's computer for them and they didnt' bring their monitor or anything so its hooked up to my hardware.  And it spent all day running scans so I couldn't touch it.  Annoying?  Ya.

My mom is annoying me again.  Sigh.  I don't know why it suprises me.  She's convinced that Kali got the ringworm from the dogs despite the fact that I've been over the dogs literally with a fine tooth comb and they have no ringworm.  Someone told her you can get it from dogs so that must be where she got it. Of course thats just one more reason for the dogs to be outside dogs.  Oh and yesterday in the swealtering heat, at noon oclock when my yard is in full sun with not a square meter of shade to be had, my dogs should be outside, because its a Beeuuuuutiful Day!  Though she nearly had a heart attack when the sun glimpsed a bit of Kelci's leg on the way to the car.

Had to laugh today though, when my niece called and asked what I was doing.  I told her I was vaccuuming the dog.  She just laughed at me, and I realised how rediculous I must sound to the average person.  Most people vacuum their carpets, but I have no carpet so I make do with the dogs...

I'm ready to shake hands with your Canadian cold front.  We've been shaking hands with a hot, tropical front from Northern Mexico and I've had about enough of it.

My mom is annoying me again.

Oh, me too.  And, she's got my normally neutral Gram doing it too.  They "get nervous" that Willow is going to "turn" on me due to being on Prednisone.  I've assured them that I've discussed this in detail with her vet because I was also somewhat concerned in the beginning considering the temperment we were starting with.  And, it's very uncommon for dogs to go nutso due to Prednisone.  It doesn't effect them exactly that way, the way it does people.  It can, but it's rare. Anyway, I've told them and retold them.  And, it's not like we have kids.  But, they still feel the need to go over it every time they speak to me.

I just wish someone other than my brother, sister in law and uncle got it about the whole dog lover thing.

I got to sleep in today!!! :) Haven't done that in ages.  Of course not getting home until midnight because I was at SAR practice an hour away means I didn't go to bed until 1:30am and thus sleeping in meant 11am! :O  Hehe.

well DH's brief stay at home is over and he is off to the mountains again.  Bugsy went in the back of his vehicle and wouldn't get out, it was quite funny. But a little filet mignon did the trick Stick out tongue

It is a very muggy day that feels like it should be raining - i have a huge sinus headache so I don't feel like doing anything- so I'm not LOL Just put some Russel Crowe movie on, A Good Year.  So lazy and as always there is much to do - ah well there is always later or tomorrow

I'm not doing anything today either!! There is some 'The Hills' recap on MTV so I'm vegging out (and *yes* I watch crappy reality TV!)

I really need to go to the grocery store, and I want to go to the dog food store and get some cans of dog food. I just know that the grocery store is going to be a mad house! I want my mom to go with, it's always more fun to go to the grocery store in a team.

haha - stay home! You have no idea what madness is out there right now! such an advanture to just get dog food from petsmart! Costco was PACKED - it took me like 5 minutes just to drive past it to get to petsmart!! oy.... crazies.... should stock up BEFORE a hurricane, not wait until the week before it comes. We've got everything already stocked up - always do!

We are back from a weekend camping trip.  I planned a group camping trip for DH's birthday.  I invited eight of his friends, & their wifes/gfs.  I thought that this would give me a chance to get to know the women better.  Instead, I got to know the guys much better because none of the other women came.  I must say that there is nothing more entertaining than camping with 9 guys, & the dogs.  I endured burping, & farting contests, but I also got to hear funny & embarassing stories about DH.  All in all, the guys were great, & super considerate towards me.  DH had a great time, & I really enjoyed getting to know the guys.  We will definitely have to do it again.

I'm so thankful that this weekend went well.  The past two weeks have been awful for both DH & myself.  I'm hoping that having a nice weekend together will get things back on track for both of us.  It can't make things worse..

Maybe you lucked out Amanda.  Girlfriends and wives typically just annoy me.  I like the guys much better for the most part, at least on camping trips.

It is soooooo freakin hot right now.  Its lightening and thundering out like crazy and its doing some crazy crap to the cable, but it won't rain.  I really wish it would, maybe it would cool things down a bit.  Ron, give me back my cold front!

Do you have the attachment to your vaccuum for the dogs? I didn't know they made one until the new girl at work was telling me how her mother has a vaccuum for her carpets that has an attachment for a dog so you can vaccuum them too!

Ron, sounds like you and Shadow had a really nice day!!

Amanda, sounds like a fun weekend! I hate going camping with girls unless they are like me. I'm not girly at all, and don't mind the burping, farting, bugs, dirt, peeing in the woods. I also would rather hang out doing guy things during the day than sit around with the girls and "chat" Big Smile

I do have an attachement for my vaccuum but I don't use it.  I just use the rake or the furminator and the vaccuum at the same time.  Then I just vaccume them with the bare hose.  They love it.

Thats how I am too.  And it bugs the heck out of me when somebody's girlfriend sits there complaining about this or that, but never gets off their butt to help cut wood, or start a fire, or make dinner or whatever.

I pretty much just hate girls in general. I can't imagine camping with them! I have no female friends beside my family, and thankfully most of my family, i.e. sisters, mom, aunts, cousins, are totally not lazy girly-girls, and camping with them is tons of fun. I'm sooo ready to go camping...but it's just too hot and crowded. September can't come fast enough.
