    Does your dog like breakfast?

In the last couple of months Abbie seems to not be so interested in breakfast, not that it was ever her favorite meal of the day, it seems like even when I serve her favorite things she just lays there and looks at it. (If I leave it down for her, she will sometimes come around later and eat it, but it's more likely that little piggla wiggla Layla will gobble it down ~ which is not good). I try to encourage her to eat it, but usually she won't. Sometimes she will, but mostly not. They get some treats during the day and their vitamin, which they think is a goody, but she is mainly a dinnertime girl - like me. I very rarely eat breakfast, so I understand not being hungry in the morning. I guess it can apply to dogs as well???

I really need to stick to the 15 minute rule and take it away if she doesn't eat it. When I do that, depending on what it is, I may cover and refrigerate it and reheat it to room temp for dinner, but she seems to know when I do that and won't touch it. She's such a food snob stinker!!!!!!

    Anybody else have this issue??

Willow never liked to eat in the morning either.  So, I usually give her just some yogurt or a small snack and then feed her meal later more toward the afternoon.

Nope, nope, nope, not that problem at all here. I have a Lab and a Golden... my sweet not so little eating machines. Breakfast, snack, supper... bring it on, lol. I wish it would take them 15 minutes to eat but if I blink hard, it is gone.

My dog Buster never used to eat breakfast....until I switched to Wellness Core last month. That is the only kibble that he has ever been really eager to eat. As soon as I put the bowl down he inhales it. When he was on Nutro, he had no interest at all in eating in the morning, and dinner I always had to add some canned food to the kibble. He really loves the Wellness kibble by itself. Callie has always eaten breakfast...she would eat morning, noon, and night if I let her. Willie has to eat breakfast or he gets the shakes by late afternoon.

LOL well no I don't really have this problem except when his allergies are very bad or it is screaming hot.  I see you are in FL so may be it is the heat that is the problem.

"Breakfast" is really more like lunch, and comes after the most active part of the day, so I rarely have a problem.  Min doesn't like breakfast though - I have to lock her in the bathroom to make her stay with her food and eat.  Morning is usually an active time for the Maremmas' work schedule so I think she is annoyed at the change in her routine.

Apollo loves his breakfast! He eats around the same time everyday, twice a day, morning and late afternoon. In the morning we go for our walk, then I feed him when we get home. If I don't feed him around his usual time he starts banging his bowl around until I do- brat!

Pirate did not like breakfast, until I figured out he *must* poop first, or he won't eat it. He's a little nutty :)

OMG THat just tickles me no end!!!   A RR who does not gobble their meal down goes to the vet STAT.  About 90% of our  breed of hounds are intensly food driven.  And yes we teach puppies with the 10 minute rule of thumb you mentioned.  They go from 3 feedings a day to the single meal with a careful eye on their weight and energy levels.  The only RR I know who does not gobble his food is a single dog, was a singleton puppy and now still is the only kid in the house he has no reason to assume any one else might eat his food if he does not eat it.

Just tickles me to think of an RR saying  " Yawn...it is too early , I 'll eat later,,,,"   hee hee hee

Does he like his breakfast or mine? Smile Max gets about 1-1/2 c. of EP in the morning and he just sort of nibbles and grazes off an on during the day.  He might or might not finish it by dinner. He gets his little treats and usually he gets a share of whatever I'm eating.  It must work for him because his weight stays steady at 60 lbs.

Mine love any food, any time of the day or night. Smile

I've only ever had one dog who didn't care for breakfast.  She'd eat a small biscuit around 9:00 or 10:00, and that was it.

Sampson is not a big breakfast fan.  I used to get worried and want to go to the vet.  I now feed him about an hour after we get back from our morning walk and usually eats.  So by that time it's about 1030 or 11am and we've been up since 0730.

    Cheyanne likes food 24/7.

Lillie could care less about eating. But if it'll get her out of the crate she will eat even if it's just a little bit.

Kujo likes everyone else's food except hers. She is a tiny Cheyanne and could eat 24/7 if allowed.

My dogs will eat any time, any where.  Much like Bonita, we would be on the way to the vet if they refused a meal.

Dakota never used to be a breakfast dog. She'd skip meals all the time. she doesn't miss a meal anymore though - ever since changing her diet to prescription food.

The aussies - they're always hungry.
