New puppy

    New puppy

Not mine (I WISH), hes my neighbors. This is their 3rd dog (since moving here) now, their first one this little black dog (mix, im not sure what lab maybe?) was Baileys best friend, then one day they left her outisde alone (off leash) and she ran into the road and got hit.      Then a couple months after that they got a Papillon. They said he tried to bite one of them ( I dont know wether he was aggressive or not since they only had him for a week so I didnt have any time to work with him). Then one day when they were visiting family he "ran away" (i was told, but I think it was more like they just left him off leash and went watching him).

Anyways, here is their new puppy. They have only had him for about a week now, I started working with him 3 days after they got him. Hes 3 months old, and SO CUTE!!! Him and Bailey are best friends already. His name is Choko (I think thats how you spell it, it might be with a C insted of a K but you get the idea) They said its a spanish name, you say it just the same as it looks choke-o. I dont really like it but that doesnt really matter, he is the most adorrable puppy EVER. The first day I met him, he was terrified of everything, he wouldnt walk on a leash, so they just carried him everywhere. And he thought Bailey was some big scary monster that wanted to eat him. Now their best buds, and I bring him on hour long walks every day with me and Bailey to the park. Its so funny watching him try to run and keep up with Bailey Stick out tongue  We usualy do a little bit of training work at the park, and then when we get back. He only knows sit right now, but we're working on it. He learned how to sit in like 10 minutes, im not sure if he knows the word yet but he knows the hand signal for it.

Bailey teaching the kid some manners, you have to down stay before you can play in the park.

What a shame about the black pup and Papillion.  Let's hope they've got it figured out now, for that adorable pittie's sake!  Love his head wrinkles.

Have to say, OMG, Bailey reminds me so much of my Joey.  Joe doesn't have any black in his coloring but otherwise, definitly the same markings in his coat and body type and EARS!  I see 'our' dogs often though; must be that Lab influence Stick out tongue.

He's adorable and hopefully with all of your help, this one will work out. You might want to let them know that you'll help find him a home if it doesn't.

    • Gold Top Dog

He's adorable! I like his eyes the most...

    Good luck working with him!

    • Gold Top Dog

OMG!  He's adoraBullie!  Thank you so much for working with this cutie.  Maybe you can also "work" with his owners some too?

    • Gold Top Dog

Working with the pup is the easy part, its teaching his owners thats going to be hard. They really don't have a clue about dogs. From what they've told me he is from a BYB. I think they said they got him from some relative, they kept the mother father and the litter all outside in a pen 24/7. I can only imagine what their living conditions were like, choko got 3 baths already and STILL smells nasty. Since Ive been helping them for so long he knows that Im pretty good with dogs and usualy goes with whatever i till him, which is good because he agreed to get him neutered.
Ive been using a clicker with him and hes catching on really fast, hes getting better with sit, and is learning down. He will come if i call him even if him and Bailey are playing on the other side of the field.

If they want to get rid of him hes coming with me lol,no matter what my parents say. How could you say no to that wrinkly face?
Im tempted to steal him right now... but they kinda know where I live.

I meant to tell you that Bailey is looking awesome, as usual.  Is he still pulling?

I really hope your neighbors REALLY listen to you with this cutie.  Please give him a big ol' smooch from me the next time you see him.

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks, and yes he is. We havent been doing weight pull as much as we used to but he does alot of agility. He can clear a 4.5' jump without even toching it. Thats were he gets those mighty muscular back legs Stick out tongue He still not as "in shape" as he used to be, hes getting older so I just let him choose when we stop. When i got him he was 1-2 years old, and it will be 4 years Ive had him on the 24th, so he 5-6 now. I cant belive its been 4 years already.

Yesterday my neighbors had a big party with all their family over, and guess who was walking up the side of the road by himself.. Angry I called him and he ran right over to me, the people never even noticed he was gone. I know hes not "my" dog but still I'd hate to see him get hit. We live on a very very busy road, its sort of a back street but people treat it like a race track.

    • Gold Top Dog

Time flies, doesn't it?  He's looking fabulous!

Crying It just breaks my heart to hear that that little cutie pie was out on the street & his owners were clueless about him being out.  I may have missed it but do they have a fenced yard or anything?

    • Gold Top Dog

Nope, no fence. I talked to him about it awhile ago and he might get the backyard fenced in. They are outside all the time, and they just let him roam off leash. Hes still a pup so he doenst really try to wander off and usually stays close but still, he doesnt know the difference between the yard and the road. Bailey hardly ever wears a collar, or a leash, but thats only because I trust him 100% and he won't even go anywhere near the front yard unless Im out there. Theres nothing wrong with them letting him being off leash, but they dont watch him. Even though I trust Bailey, I wouldnt just let him wander around the yard off leash by himself (he wouldn't anyways, hes my constant shadow lol) Unless I lived in the middle of nowhere with no roads around, I dont think Id ever let a dog off leash by themselves.  That was exactly how their first dog was hit, they had her off leash and wernt watching her... don't you think they would have learned thats not such a good idea?

They really are clueless about dogs. The first day I met the pup (it was the 2nd day since they got him) He kept yelling at him to sit, and the pup was just looking at him like "What?". I asked him "Have you actually worked with him and taught him what sit means..?" and he said "No but every time I try pushing his butt to the ground he just gets back up, he wont listen to me" I was just thinking wow......

I am so glad that you're there to help this little boy out.  It's so sad that their owners are soooooooooo clueless.  Especially with a Pibble.
