Okay so it was sort of a boring day at home.I am tremendously cranky right now, depression is flirting 24/7 with me as I try to adjust to life without Jasmine And I was browsing through AOL "news" and found a 13 photo display of celebrities with their dogs. I found myself wondering ...these are folks with a TON of money ... Most have bought the dog through a pet store. And WOW does it show!! There were maybe 5-6 decent purebreds shown. Please don't get me wrong... if they want a dog and don't care about breed standards then my humble opinion is get your self to a shelter and save a dog!! But it is really apparent they paid big money for purebred dogs from millers or ?? Arrgh like I said I am cranky....
Christine A. has a gorgeous brindled Bull Mastiff, Not necessarily a show dog but I would not be embarrassed taking him in a ring. Nicole Richie had one of two Poms that you could see in the photo as she was boarding them to "go to jail" It looked like a well bred dog, Joss Stone has a nice little bichon looking pup. Keyshia Cole and Usher both had beautifully groomed examples of Terriers Then you have Paris and her arm full of dogs, apparently she owns 12 +/- and seriously not one was worthy of ring time. How sad..... They could use the public viewing them and BRAG that they got this adorable (?) dog from a shelter , saving it's life and loving it dearly. OR they could own a shining example of a breed. So when fans watch ( stalk) them they aren't blowing off breed standards to get the nearest thing.... This in my perturbed opinion would put many miller, and bybs out of business... raise a crappy example and who will you sell it to?? Just Knowing a "celebrity" wants you dog breed should make every one's hackles raise and eyes roll back in their head! I would never discount a dog for a well known person and find it hard to believe any one else would. So if you are demanding at the least high end breed rate , why shouldn't you be producing the BEST possible example? Are they loved. I truly think so, but it just blows me away , like the pop star who upholsterers his front room in shag carpeting "cause he can" a lot of money does not mean Taste.
