Mindless Chatter - Hump day

    Mindless Chatter - Hump day

    Good morning idoggers!

I helped out at 2 agility classes last night and work with Abbie on her dog aggression. She has learned that if she approaches a dog nicely she gets a treat. We're still working on the reactivity though. Hopefully I can get this out of her quickly. This trainer is committed to helping me out with her and told me to come to her class tonight and on monday too so we can use those dogs on Abbie.

    My house is a wreck.

My friend asked me to watch her dog this weekend. I said yes but told her that I was worried about her dog being too stressed at my house. Neiko and this dog don't get along very well. They don't fight but they stand next to each other barking and posturing. And then there's abbie. Oh well. It's only 1 weekend.

    Bless you Julie!

BTW would you like Bugsy too?

It is raining - this is an extraordinary event as it isn't a storm, it is raining and set to do so all day.

Lots to accomplish today and all of it boring - bah humbug.

Bugsy is really mad at me now - two days with no exercise BUT his paw looks better this morning. So I must persevere. Between cabin fever and DH being gone he is chock full of anxious energy.  he was out chasing crows this morning for about 20 minutes, they like to go on the apex of the roof - not today crows!

I wish I had his store of energy oh and a whole bushel full of motivation to get this junk done today

AH Wednesday, one more day closer to the weekend.

Picked up the weave poles it was a nice drive. Then I had to take Teddi for a walk last night. Since she is just coming back I could not forego her. It was HYSTERICAL. We have created a water monster. Belle LOVES to swim but hates water being put on her. So when Teddi was young we taught her sprinklers. Last night on our walk, someones auto sprinkler was running, she started getting SO EXCITED as we approached. I told her she had to behave all the way (she did but it was hard mom) then when we got close I said "get it!" She attacked that dastardly sprinkler water! She was out to defend the world from it! She had so much fun, and got so wet. She was great for the rest of her walk.

Also yesterday there was a drug sting about 1 1/2 miles from my house in the parking lot of a mini mall where we go to buy our meat. Apparently a big ol' shoot out started. One dead (suspect), one injured (suspect) and two in custody. I was reading about it in the paper, suspects ran into the meat market the employees and customers hid out in the back. WOW I emailed DH today and said "aren't you glad you did not go meat shopping last night". The article and an interesting perspective from one customer who was returning to his car as the suspects car entered the parking lot. He thought they were going to rob him, then he saw someone get out with weapons, he said he jumped into his girlfriends car (she was still in the store) and high tailed it to the other side of the parking lot. This was not technically "my town" but pretty darn close to home.

Yesterday you posted how people can "not" exercise their dogs. Playing devils advocate and being one that works her dogs REGULARLY, we have created the problem with our dogs. We get them out so they expect to get out and if they don't go bonkers. Dogs who never exercise get fat, lazy and complacent. My first dog we had as a kid probably only went on 20 or less walks in her 14 year life. Sure she loved walks but we did not think she needed them. I can not imagine not doing something with my dogs, and I feel amazingly guilty if I am too lazy even one day to walk them. On those days we do something still but it is not the same.

I also wish I had my dogs energy level. Then maybe my dogs would be walked AND my house would be clean.

haha! Wouldn't that be great? Our houses would be clean, we'd all be super skinny and muscle toned and have not a care in the world. Oh a dogs life......

I know and we would sleep deeply whenever the mood struck too!

And Ann I know to some extent I created this monster AND I know you read my post about my observations and likened him to a lab but it isn't like that, I know and have known too many labs to be wrong on that.  His energy has always been on the anxious/intense/frenetic side.  I am sure he sees our entire neighborhood as his territory and not doing the rounds is very stressful, it is like living with a creature that has supped a keg full of expresso.  he is pacing, looking for something to steal,  watching out the windows, running the hallway to follow whatever he saw out the window, banging at me as I type, sniffing every corner of the house, etc etc.

We've been up for 4 hours, he has been outside in pouring rain for an hour and a half, played with a cuz for about 30 minutes, I've done his nails and ears (figuring he would relax afterward), destroyed a stuffie, did some training.  He is still completely unsettled.  I fear he will wind up being crated today for the first time in a year or so - I have too much work to do and you cannot ignore him for too long.  Well I can't anyway.  He is staring at me right now moving my elbow away from the keyboard - aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

OK good news is though we have just bought our first bag of Orjen Fish and I am hoping that it is the end of my food struggles.  He did fine on BatM but I didn't think his coat was great.

My favorite Dilbert cartoon is just that. It has Dogbert walking around talking about how nice it is to be a dog because they can nap when they want to. In the last frame Dilbert walks in from work, Dogbert is flat on his back napping and the thought out of Dogbert says "but mostly we do it because it makes you hate your life!" Too true!

Bugsy you need to settle down so you mom can get somethings done. She will have more time to play with you if she is done.

just went out for the mail and I have a completely flat tire Angry So once the rain stops I'll need to try and change it in order to drive it to get the tire fixed

    *heavy sigh*

Stupid flat tires! The first time I had a flat, I had to call BF's dad, not because I didn't know how to change a tire (I do!) but because the lug nuts were rusted on and I wasn't strong enough to get them off. LOL.

I need a DD iced latte. Badly.

I have to go to a 'yappy hour' tonight for work. It's at a restaurant with a big patio, and dogs are welcome. A group called 'Sophie's Circle' puts it on, and they charge $5 admission, plus a donated good to the shelter. I just don't know if I want to bring Pirate since I'll be trying to work and he might be a distraction. BF's mom is a regular and so if BF goes, Pirate might.

And he has agreed to pull you to DD and I look forward to not being harassed for a while

We have a Yappy hour place I think I am going to go on Sunday - its been going for a few years but I always forget
