    Football fans---is he too small????

My seven year old just started tackle football. One of the offensive linemen was hurt during a practice, so they put in my guy---he looked like a hobbit compared to the rest of the line.Big Smile

So is he too small? ROFL

PS I don't think he'll stay on the O line---but he did an awesome job so who knows...

    WOW!  He's a little guy!

I'll bet that he can hit just as hard as the bigger kids though.

I worked for a guy with horses, this guy was as tall as I am or shorter (I am 5'2";) then I learned he played PROFESSIONAL football. I"t is not the size of the dog that bit you, it is the size of the bite in the dog!" I guess that applies here!

The guy I worked for mentioned above (briefly) was a BAD EGG. I think the other players would have been afraid of him.

When both my boys were in 5th. grade they started playing Pop Warner football and they weighed the kids before each game. There was a 20 lb. range in all the categories (Jr. Midgets, Midgets, Jr. PeeWees and PeeWees) and the kids had to be within the range for their group.  That way nobody played with anyone who was more than 20 lbs. heavier than they were. If a kid outgrew his group even by a pound or two, he moved into the next higher group.

I don't think so. They usually go by weight, like the above post states.
My Dad is a pop warner head coach, my brother is 10 now, but started playing right when he turned 8. He was on the smaller side too, and had no problems. I hope he has alot of fun!!! He's such a cutie!!

     Oh that is so cute!

My sister lives in central PA and her boys played football from being tiny - and her boys were TINY and it was exaggerated by the fact that the good German and Polish stock of the area means there are some BIG kids!  To my knowledge there was no weight limit.  One nephew didn't play much but the other was always a starter and continued onto the HS varsity squad.  He was not only shorter than most (until HS and now is 6'2" at 19) but desperately thin ( I bet he weighs no more than 140 now if that) and you'd sit there thinking oh dear he's going to get snapped like a twig.  But he didn't and he still LOVES to play

I miss watching the pee wee football I think it is adorable
