Jewlieee
Is this the same as lepto? Or is it combined with the distemper vaccine? Or is it something all together different?
I imagine you mean "Is Hepatitis given in the same shot as Lepto?" Not usually.
Vaccines are given in various combos. Three combos are
- Distemper + Parvo (DP)
- Distemper + Hepatitis (actually Adenovirus) + Parvo + Parainfluenza (DHPP)
- Distemper + Hepatitis (actually Adenovirus) + Parvo + Parainfluenza + Lepto (DHLPP)
Lepto should only be given to at-risk dogs and never to pups under 12-weeks. Pups and toy dogs are at a higher risk of serious reactions.
The vaccine for Adenovirus (CAV-2) cross protects against Hepatitis. Hepatitis (CAV-1) is not necessary.
ETA: Added the 3rd combo.
ETA: If you decide to vaccinate against Lepto, get a vaccine that includes all four available serovars (strains). There are other strains for which there is no vaccine.
