Makeup: Bare Minerals

LOVE my bare minerals.  Love the foundations, the concealers, and the eye kit.  I know some of the colors in the eye kit seem a bit odd (particularly the PEACHY eye shadow), but the combination works great together and I always get compliments on my eyes when I wear that combo. I actually didn’t like any of the options I tried for my wedding, so I went with the every day eye kit colors and just applied it a bit heavier and it worked out well.  I recommend at least trying it to see if it works for your eye color.

I rarely wear  make up, it is ALL too heavy for comfort for me. I feel suffocated in it .  The Bare Minerals is the least icky and if you fall asleep and forget to take it off it does little damage to your skin.  On the days I do wear it, I like the natural finish. It never does look over done even if applied in a rush.  It gets expensive though, if you wear a lot of make up they have a club plan that ships automatically as you want to set it  up.  I would rather my girls wore it than the goopy foundations that can cake up and take such time and skill to apply right. I was a drama major and am really good at make up , but I hate to see people with crappy make up.  I can count the times I met a teen at the front door on their way to school and heavy or poorly applied make up was washed off before they headed out to the bus or car. ( yeah I am THAT mom) . It didn't take but a few times before they learned to do it well ,  and as they have grown  they rarely wear it. The California 3 ( step duaghters) can not go outside or to Starbucks without makeup. It really consumes a lot of time for  them .

I use it if I am going to wear anything,  so I guess thumbs up.

I use Artistry.  Bare minerals doesn't cover up my blemishes well enough if I break out, but Artistry has this marvelous creme foundation that does and it is the only type I have found that does make it look like I am wearing tons of makeup.  I have also slept in it and it did not hurt my skin or make me break out so I am happy.  I usually take five minutes to put on makeup and most people don't even know I wear it because I like the natural look.  However, my face does look clear and even which is my goal.

LOL Joyce. My photographer just finished with over 840 photos from our wedding day and I have been viewing them over the last few days.  He is mailing me out the discs today or tomorrow, so after I get them, I will pick a few to post the highlights for you Joyce. I have had a couple other folks ask why I haven’t posted them too,  but it just takes awhile to get the photos being high wedding season and all.  I don’t know how they do it. He has 2-3 weddings per week right now. Thats just nuts

I use it...I am a person of color so makeup can be difficult. So much is about just the right shade so you don't look odd in different light. The Bare Minerals is wonderful and has felt lovely, looked lovely, and has actually helped my skin out a bit as well. Do try it...can't vouch for the look alike's but definitely like the real stuff!

Thanks again for input everyone (about any mineral makeups too not just the Bare Minerals). :-) For those of you who use it, how long does a container of foundation last for you? I also forgot to add too that the kit from the mall I saw included a bottle of moisturizer.

Thanks. :-) Yeah on the opposite side, I've always had pretty fair skin and if I have the wrong shade I sometimes look like I'm wearing tan-in-a-can or something, lol.

mine has lasted MONTHS..I am still not done with it and I am not really sure when I bought it. Maybe back in Fall? I don't use it but maybe 2-3 days a week...if you use it daily and retouch thruout the day it might last less. I don't put much on either...

Fair skin is no problem with bare essentials. I go through a regular sized container (not the smaller ones that come with the kits) about every 8 weeks or so, but a lot of it depends on how much coverage you want. If you like light coverage and you have very few discolorations or acne to cover 1-2 should do it, if you need heavier coverage then you will want 3 most likely

http://www.stylelist.com/celebrity-style/good-makeup-bad-makeup?icid=100214839x1208045373x1200432801  I LOVE these !!   Seriously this is what I taught my children and will teach my grand daughters Less IS more.... Drives me nuts to see some one look like they are made up for Theater .... If you have to restructure your entire look  why bother?? I can see wanting a little smoothing out  or drawing attention to your best feature but sheesh some of these are horrid. and Poor Amy Winehouse ... Please can't her family step up and do an intervention??? This woman is going to die young and she will look 80+ years old when she does it !!

I love seeing someone like mandy moore with the wrong make up , it completely reinforces my belief that Natural is best.  Just enough, not toooo much !

i've been using BM for a little over  year.  I  like it, it's probably the only makeup I've liked. I used to not wear any foundation at all becuase ever one that I had tried made my skin freak out & turn red.  Or it felt really gross, one my friend used to use was like grease, it was horrible.

the BM seems to improve my skin, I do notice  difference if I wear it consecutivly.  I use it pretty sparingly too, cover blemishes then a light dusting to blend it all in, then the mineral veil, I do use one of their eye shadows thats really light.  their darker ones are harder for me to 'control'

Thank you again ladies! :-) Now though--I just saw an infomercial for "Sheer Cover", and their kit looks about the same as Bare Minerals, but it's half the price! Akk, I may go for this one instead, but I'm not sure yet. :-P

my sis orignally got me into bare minerals. She switched to 'sheer cover' becuase of the cost difference. but then she went back to BM, she didnt like the sheer cover. I'll have to ask her why & post her response.

I hope you get to ask her, would be interesting to see what she says. :-)
