Makeup: Bare Minerals

    Makeup: Bare Minerals

I was just wondering if any of you here use Bare Minerals makeup? I see the infomercial all the time--I actually tried it once when I went to the mall, but was wondering if anyone here has been using it consistently? Have you noticed any benefits after using it for a certain period of time?

I use it but just the Mineral Veil now.  The foundation powder was just too heavy for me, would settle in my crinkles and show my age.  The warmth is too strong for my fair skin, I can never manage to get the tiny amount it would take for my skin on the brush, so I gave up and went to regular blush.  I didn't notice an advantage one way or the other except that when I'd sleep in it (which I'm terrible about) I didn't break out as quickly as I would with regular makeup.

Thanks for your input. :-) I was thinking I would maybe try one kit just to see if I like it and if I benefit from it in the long run (I have a mild problem with breakouts). It is semi-expensive so it's good to hear reviews on it first.

For the cost of the kit, I think I'd just try the foundation that matches your skin first.  I never really liked the eye shadow stuff, too difficult to control for me.  And if you buy just the foundation, you won't need any for a REALLY LONG TIME!  It lasts forever because you really don't need to use very much at all and buff it in really good.  It does look like your skin and covers blemishes and discolorations REALLY WELL.  I use a small brush to apply it on broken capillaries I have around my nose and they disappear without it looking cakey like alot of concealers do.  It's really good for that, I just had a problem with the wrinkles part.  It's probably wonderful on young skin.

I like bare minerals a lot!! Since it is so pricey I started shopping around.

My daughter (age 18) loves l'oreal's knockoff version.

I found Aromaleigh, you get a larger variety of colors there. The good thing is the website offers samples. Big Smile

My sister bought me a starter kit for Christmas, and I am now completely hooked!  Even though I'm in my 40's, i still get breakouts, and my skin has gotten a lot better since i started using it.  I even get compliments, which never ever happened before.  i HIGHLY recommend it!!

That's great to know it lasts a long time because I might not feel as bad about the price, lol! :-D How long would you say one container lasts for you? 3girls, thanks for the info, do you know if the knockoff works just as well? :-)

I always wanted to try it myself, then AVON came out with a mineral makeup.  Although I have not tried the "Bare Mineral" a lady in my office was using it and switched to AVON's.   She said it didnt feel as heavy to her.   I like it too.  I havent worn much makeup in years but with the wrinkles and age spots lately....52 years of living, lol, I decided to try it.   Although during the summer I have not been using the foundation, just the "Transparent Glow"  "Golden Glow" (a blush) and an eye shadow.  I dont know how expensive Bare Minerals is compared to AVON but my friend at work said it was a pretty good savings.   If you do not have an AVON Rep, you can go online to order.  One nice thing about AVON is no questions asked return policy.  If you get the wrong shade you are not stuck with it.  By the way I think they are having a great special right now.   By the way, I do not sell AVON, I just wear it,lol.

I have the maybelline version.  It is ok.  I don't know how it compares to others.  Anyone know how it compares to Bare Minerals.  It certainly costs a lot less.

Me too!! They have come out with some amazing stuff over the years, especially the Anew line.  And they are having a super sale right now.  I just ordered some really neat cleanser that was half price ... so of course, I got two. Big Smile

I haven't tried the l'oreal version. But it looks like it works just as well for my daughter.

The aromaleigh does seem to work just as well. Plus I love the larger selection of colors.

I bought a starter kit called Fresh Minerals from Costco and am super pleased with the results.  I have hated foundation all my life to the point of never using it but as I am moving through my 40's I decided I really needed some help LOL.  So I though well before I try to tolerate my version of he** I'll try this.  And I am loving it.  Gives a much more finished look than au naturale but feels very natural.

I saw the starter kit online somewhere for about $30 and think it is a reasonable price for all that is in it

Gosh, I would say 5 or 6 months!  That was the regular size which I want to say was $28 at Ulta?  I can't remember exactly.  While we're weighing in on the others, I tried the new line that Mary Kay is coming out with when I got a complimentary makeover at my friend's house.  I wasn't impressed.  Yes, it was very light and didn't settle into my creases, but there was also no coverage of my spots and capillaries.  I've found that if I use the Bare Minerals foundation with a small brush for spot coverage and then the Mineral Veil over the rest of my face, it works well for me.  I still use a cream concealer lightly under the eyes to cover my dark circles.

I use bare minerals, but i really haven't noticed any long term benefits. It looks really good though. I hate foundation so this is a great alternative.

Thank you all for your input, it helps a lot! And yes, I've also found that AVON has some pretty cool stuff for a nice price. :-)

Interesting, and it would probably last longer for me because I only wear makeup a couple times a week. The kit they were selling at the mall was $60 and came with (if I remember correctly) 3 brushes, two foundations, warmth, and mineral veil.
