    Will her hair come back????

Lillie did look like this before the little bug issue we had a couple weeks ago.

    Now she looks like this.

So will her coat come back? It was getting so pretty and she was actually looking the I wanted her to look. Now all her belly hair is gone and I am sad.

(I dont know how to fix the picture where it cuts off her head)

I have used a topical spray called Shapley's MTG on horses that have lost hair from rubbing and fungus. It is inexpensive and works well but smells a little funky.

Oh, my, the MTG works like a charm!  But it smells like burnt, um, it's not super unpleasant but maybe like fireworks, or a match?  If it didn't it would probably be a lot more popular, it works so well.  And it's not like the smell fades - it lasts through baths, too.  It's part of the magic of it, whatever is so stinky is also the main active ingredient (sulfur maybe?).

It's super soothing and if you can stand the smell it's great for skin problems related to allergies or vaccination reactions.  Last year I had a dog spill iodine all over himself - the really strong stuff I use to sterilize lamb navels.  His skin was quite irritated, and it burned the hair on his front half, turned it very brittle and bright orange.   A friend who was a horse vet suggested the MTG.  It worked beautifully but the vet had forgotten to warn me about the odor.  Holy cow. Tongue Tied

The smell remained in my floors for a couple weeks after the dog was adopted - even though I hadn't applied the stuff for weeks before that.  Not totally unpleasant - just a bit more outdoorsy than one wants in a house.

If you visit thier website they have a new product [same ingredients] that is marketed for human use that is suposed to have a pleasant scent but it is more expensive per ounce.

Have you used it?  I noticed I had to use a lot to soak through to the skin and really wet down the hair.  It's kind of thick.  I later used it on Gus' persistent "concrete elbow" that he came with and it regrew so fast!  I'd lost hope as it had been nine months since he arrived.  Again though, even that small amount was pretty noticeable.

Dang it. I wish I had seen theses responses before I went to town. I guess I will make another trip to town. Wait do tack/feed stores carry that? Or is it a vet thing?

i'm interested too.... Ben has a bald elbow, and Kaydee still has a hairless patch on her hip from back when she was immobile.... i'd like to try that on them!

I have only used the Shapley's made for animal use on horses. The smell reminds me of bacon frying.I bought it at Mill's Fleet Farm which is a midwest chain I think. The website is the only place I've seen the human use version.

Hi I haven't been on in a week so I missed these pics.  I am jealous of Lillie's lovely fringe.  Dublin is the bald setter.  So even your after photo looks good!  My dog has a rather bald belly all the time and no side fringe except for two or three long pieces that I don't want to cut because it looks like a sad attempt at being a real setter LOL.  Did you try those zin pro biscuits I mentioned?  Totally safe and that helped our Brittany regrow some gorgeous hair after he was a mess from way worse problems.  Or ask your vet about the actual zin pro product to add to her diet.  Whatever isn't used is peed out.  So you have no worries about side effects.

Lillie wont eat those biscuits. I gave them to her and she just spits them out. Cheyanne on the other hand gobbles them down.
