Alright, I'm going to stick my nose in yo bidness and you gonna like it. Actually, I'm going to teach you some basic physics. And then, you can get mad at me but I can't change the basic laws of physics.
Energy moves from hot to cold. Always. It's called the law of entropy. Your dogs, regardless of breed, eliminate heat through panting and the pads of their feet. If the blacktop is hotter than the internal temperature of the dog, the dog cannot then release heat through the pads, like they normally would. Maybe it won't exactly hurt their pads to walk on hot blacktop but they can't cool off as well, either. Contact temp on blacktop can be 130 to 140 F. Your dog's temp might be 100 F. Do the math.
Yeah, Shadow can walk on concrete and there are plenty of grass islands around, too. But some days are so hot he turns us around halfway through and I don't fight it.
One could get booties but that, too, will interfere with the dog getting rid of heat.
