Little stinker!

    Little stinker!

Ginger is still in the recovery process of her broken jaw. It's been about a month and it's healing, but it's a bit slow since she's older so the vet didn't feel comfortable removing her wire yet, so they're in for another month.  It doesn't bother her, thankfully, and her meals haven't changed (she has megaesophagus, so is on a watery diet anyway) so she's unfazed.  Her new trick, however, is climbing gates. So, she's started climbing into the room where we keep the cat's dishes and clears out their dishes. This is undesirable on many fronts..she's not supposed to have solid food because of the esophagus issue..she shouldn't be chewing much with her jaw..and the cat food is chicken based, which she's allergic to (itchies).  Going to have to invest in a climb proof gate. She's lucky she's cuteStick out tongue

I must have missed the thread. How did she break her jaw? That sounds awful.

Ginger you BAD dog!  OK not really bad just mischievous Wink

Oh, she IS cute!  What is she?  Now listen Ginger, cuteness will only let you get away with so much.  Don't over use it.  Be good so you don't get sick, silly girl.

She is adorable------something about her eyes and muzzle say Tibetan Spaniel to me-----definitely mixed with something----she is almost too cute for words.

Hope she continues to heal, little dickens.

Oh Ginger you silly girl!  You gotta help your hewman to help you by not climbin those silly gates.

Why is the good stuff always on the other side of the gate?

    • Gold Top Dog

All of her vet records/info from her former owner say Poodle/Chihuahua mix.  I've no idea if it was a guess or if she got her from someone who had the parents. She was calling her a 'Poochi"Confused  We, for the record, do not.Stick out tongue  She's very sweet, even if she is a little glutton.Smile

aww - poor baby!  How did she break her jaw?

Poor girl... I hope it will heal completely!

    How did it happen?

She got pounced by Legend (he has cognitive dysfunction syndrome and, before we knew he had it and had him put on meds, he was having some issues with being reactive to some of the other pets) She hit her jaw on the linoleum.   Luckily, it lined up very well and is healing nicely.  There's a nice callus formed and she's not at all uncomfortable.  In fact, she can't see why she's not allowed bone time right now.  Her face is grown back from being clipped down too...for awhile there she looked like a chinese crested powderpuff.  The wires were also all able to be done inside the mouth, so no incisions needed.

After a month on meds (which he'll continue on for the rest of his life), Legend is back to his goofy self. He does other strange things because of the CDS, but being crabby with all of the furries is no longer one of them, which is really what we were most concerned about. I can deal with cleaning accidents now and then, confusion and things like sleeping in the tub. Having to worry about the other pets was our main concern.

Glad to hear that Legend is easier to deal with now!!  What meds do you have him on for CDS?

    He's on Selegiline

Oh, she's soooo pretty with her little bowSmile

Ginger, you are naughty! You need to keep your little flittering self on the right side of the gate, so you don't get sick. Take a lesson from Lazy Emma, and just wait for the food to be delivered to your crate.

OR wait for the cat to deliver it to your side of the gate.  I had to stop giving the kitty chicken because I discovered he was dropping it down where Ben was waiting.  Such a nice kitty.  Stick out tongue
