    rwbeagles-The perils of being a "pile-er"

So Lily is a pile-er..has always been...no nothing to do with the bathroom folks Embarrassed I am talking play style. She has always liked to make "piles" of her things and set up "stores" and what not. Always...it makes for one MESSY room lemme tell ya. We always make her dismantle her creations in the living room or dining room before bed. BUT her bedroom we allow a certain amount and clean it every week or every other week together.

Welll...today she comes running out of her room..."SPIDER SPIDER"...I roll my eyes...probably some tiny thing LOL. So I go and look and can't find it and move around a pile of stuff and he comes running out. SMOOSH goes the paper and because like any trophy hunter worth her salt I like to look at my kills...I peek and well....it looked worrisome.

I looked it up and yep as I thought, Brown Recluse...no way it couldn't be...spot on. Ay ay ay. So...having informed Lily that a venomous spider was dwelling in her piles of junk, oops "valuables" we all cleaned it up...well mostly me. Lily fled the room everytime something wispy happened to float out of a pile...LOL.

Not good...but it might help us keep her habit under control do you think? She won't go back in there now, LOL. I hope it wears off before bedtime. I told her the danged thing isn't out to GET her...he was fleeing for his life, she'll get over it. I hope. I am sure we have a lot of these around...maybe I'll bomb the house this weekend.

YIKES!!  Is a brown recluse as bad as a black widow?  Maybe you can convince her that they like to live in piles.  If there aren't any piles, they'll go back outside.

I was under the impression that a brown recluse bite can be more deadly than a black widow.  We had black widows when I lived in Virginia.  Very pretty, but I gave them lots of space!   Never seen a brown recluse, but have heard that a few people here in Michigan have been bitten by them at one time or another.

yep they are BAD juju. Very non aggro tho...most folks get bitten when they slip on shoes with one inside or reaching into places they can't see into etc. I do think they can climb into beds and such seeking warmth as well.

I am thinking the house bomb isn't a bad idea...LOL.

*suddenly thankful I live in a place with very, very few poisonous....anythings*

I've seen waayy too many black widows for comfort since I've moved to CA..but a brown recluse? Wow, I'd just fall over and die right there. Though when a black widow ran across my living room floor 2 days ago..I about fell over and died too... Sigh.

You guys are scaring the crap out of me.  I think AZ has at least a dozen poisonous things I can think of off the top of my head (various spiders including a good population of tarantulas I'm told, centipedes, millipedes, many types of snakes including rattlesnakes, etc.)  GAH!!!  I am glad I am sitting in NH right now as I read this thread!!!

Does AZ have scorpions? Someone told me before I moved here that there were scorpions all over the place, but THANK DOG I've never seen one...I'm pretty sure I'd pass out. I don't even know if they actually do live around here... perhaps I should look that up.

yep, AZ has scorpions for sure.  I got all the same warnings before I moved out here, too - but I haven't seen any scorpions yet.... knock on wood!!  We are moving to a new neighborhood, so who knows what that will bring.  *shudders*

Born and raised in Southern CA and I've never seen a scorpion.  Haven't seen any up here, either. Big Smile Aren't they pretty much a desert critter? At least they always seem to be running around in those mummy movies set in  the desert in Egypt.
