Loving the cat tree

    Loving the cat tree

A few months ago I had a pair of foster cats and they came with a ton of supplies, including this make-shift cat tree.  They were both adopted but no one seemed to want a giant cat tree.  We moved it to our screened in porch.  The cats LOVE it!  Well they aren't thrilled at the camera flash, but they do love it.  They each have their own little spot.  Pardon the junk in the background, I am in the process of cleaning the porch so everything is shoved to the back.

I've been meaning to put one of these together for my cat. I have all kinds of scrap wood in my garage. I think it looks pretty easy. Look at how much your cats love it.

I need to get motivated! Btw, your tuxedo cat looks just like my trucker

The guy who made this one was an engineering major so he made it from some wood scraps from projects.  It's pretty dang heavy, but very sturdy.  Not pretty, but it does the job and you'd probably have to pay $300 for something comparable at a pet store.  They love the one pole wrapped in sisal.  In my experience, that is a cat's favorite thing to scratch (two of mine are front declawed but scratch it anyway).

    Tuxedo cats are my fave!

That's great! The ones in the store are ridiculously expensive! I would love to make my own.........I got a small cat cubby at Walmart and it was $20, but I want something big for Bailey. I'm trying to find a used one on Craigslist.

Don't forget Freecycle.  I have found a few things that way.

Liesje, nice cat tree.  Your kitties look very happy with it.

I got one for my cats also. I was very disappointed. I thought it would be a tad bit bigger than it is. But the cats dont seem to notice that they barely fit into the hole!!

My cats and I loved our cat tree until is fell for the 4000th time and finally broke. Eventually, I'd like to make my own.

A couple of years ago we had the extra money to plunk down on a cat tree for Teddy.  After much searching, and swatch tests, we decided on a 5ft tri-leveled cat tree.  It cost us about $220, but I don't regret one penny!!  Teddy has shredded the sisal!  His sheds his fur all over it.  He gets his catnip treats up there.  He goes up there for his multiple catnaps.  Needless to say, it's Teddy's piece of furniture, along with everything else.Wink

Cool!!!   I've seen instructions on how to make them online, but the ones I've found sounded hard.   That set up doesn't look too hard to duplicate, I know we have plenty of extra wood in our wood shed.  Your kitties look SOOOO cute!!!  I love how all three of them are on it at the same time, each with their own spot, that's fantastic!
