    Cougar takes Labrador from bedroom

if you check Yahoo right now there should be a link to the video/story. This was in Colorado. Scary scary stuff. Two dogs sleeping at the foot of the master's bedroom and a big male cougar TOOK one physically, jumped a fence with it and killed then buried the poor dog! Horrifying...it cam in thru some french doors left open for a breeze during a hot night...

Be careful folks who live in lion country...this dog weighed 75lbs! The other dog didn't even know the cat was there til the owner woke up!

Hmmm. when I went there's a story on a man recieving two arms. Kewl but I think I'd rather look for the story on the cougar.

That is scary to think that a large cat would walk in to someone's house and take a large dog.. *shudder* Glad the cougars around here aren't that brave..

Very sad for the family  (although if I lived on what appeared to be the edge of woods I'm not sure I'd go to sleep with my doors wide open).  I'm a bit sad that they destroyed the cat rather than perhaps relocating it to a less populated area, though.

I would have to shoot this cat....thank God, I  have two hand guns, a 9mm Glock , and in my bedroom a 40 caliber Ruger....I feel somewhat save.....

I love my little cats, but I am SO scared of cougars!  One reason I honestly don't want to live Rockies or westward.  I've camped in the Serengeti listening to wild lions fight hyenas but there is something about those cougars/mountain lions that terrifies me, even more than bears.

"I love mountain lions and hated to see it have to be killed but it was becoming a pretty scary thing to have in the neighborhood," Mack said.

This from someone who just had their family pet killed??? Sorry, I might have been quoted differently.

You wouldn't have liked the U. of Houston during the 60's and 70's.  There was a live cougar (raised from a kitten) kept on campus as a mascot.  Shasta was regularly walked by one of her student keepers - if that is what you can call a cougar on a chain pulling a man around campus "walking the cat".

Shasta sat down beside me once - literally 12" from me (her butt level with my butt; her head above my head).  scared to death

The keeper said "I don't think she will hurt you".  That really didn't reassure me, so I got out of there.  You can't ever call them "tame" and Shasta didn't have a "nice kitty" reputation toward women.

So sad...I would be a complete mess if that was Apollo.
I don't think I would ever sleep with the doors open though- I can't even sleep if they aren't locked. My area is not prone to crime, it's very safe, but I just feel more comfortable that way.

As suprising as it may be to some folks that the Labs didn't sound an alarm...my guess is they were sawing Zs and didn't even realize the cat came in.

We were burglarized more than once as my 2 labs slept right through it.  Hence, the purchase of my GSD.  Wink

You know...I don't think I would be sleeping with my doors open if I knew that big cats lived in the area.  What were they thinking!!!???!!!

Apollo sleeps like a rock. I highly doubt he would bark if someone/something broke in. I highly doubt he would even wake up! He has never barked to alarm/warn.
