I mean DH not the dog. Lol.
He keeps saying he doesn't understand why Maze listens to me with out question and that I can call her off of anyone inthe house that's asking a command of her. I tried to tell him it's because I've worked with her more and he hasn't. He's mostly only gets her to do commands when he's doing NILIF. And he only does that because I explained the workings behind NILIF.
So tonight I decided to prove to him why Maze listens to me and not him. I grabbed up a pile of cookies and gave them to him. I said I'd work with him and we'll see if we can't get Maze listening to him better. Now I use a different training program then he does but surprising enough Maze will listen to each command even if it's different for each person. I don't like it that way but because Maze is my trial dog (IE: I try different training ways to teach new stuff), she picks up stuff pretty quick.
ANYWAYS! We sat down together and I told Maze to do something then asked Alex to do the same command and when she does it, give her a cookie. After a couple minutes, I said to put away the cookies and ask her to do something, keeping in mind Maze and I have progressed from cookies so she'll do anything for a pat on the head from me. When he asked Maze just sat there and looked at him. He started to get frustrated and was about to get really upset when I stated, try again with the cookie. So he did and she did the command.
It was like a lightbulb went off over Alex's head! Honest! I just sat back and simply said, "See what I mean when I said you have to work more with her before she'll listen completely" He actually said he'd work more with her now adays then he has in the past cuz I think it bruises his ego when I can call the dog off any command he's giving her.
So I'm leaving for 10 days and they'll be alone together and I suggested it'd be nice to see you two working better as a team..
So we'll see what happens when I get home..
