A neighbor called to say that her daughter was walking with her dog in the edge of the woods and the dog didn't follow her home.
After searching to no avail she called me to ask if I had seen a small black dog with an under bite. I hadn't, but I decided to take Bay and go outside by the pond and take a look.
When we got to the edge of the water Bay, the lab/chow mix, started rapidly snorting the air, then took off down a trail through the woods.
I ran after her for about fifty yards when I saw her in the edge of a field. I went to her and she was sitting, guarding the little lost dog. The entire search took maybe two minutes.
I was amazed that Bay understood what I wanted and performed flawlessly. Here is a picture of my girl:
