I'm a *really* proud and beaming dog mom! (ISGrl)

Ok, please bear with me and let me brag a bit, I rarely do I promise! But yesterday Riley was at the Irish Festival for 5 hours and he did absolutely wonderful. I was a little nervous at first because he is very young (1.5 yr) and exuberant. Plus add in the tons of people, little kids, food, loud music...But OMG - I am so *proud* of him! I couldn't have possibly asked him to behave any better than he did. He was so gentle with everybody - little toddlers, babies in their strollers...he just let them pet him and wagged his tail appreciatively. Absolutely no jumping, no boisterous-ness, no bodyslamming (his favorite "trick", lol). He was certainly a star! I even had someone say they would give me their shirt for my dog! LOL. And he got lots of people loving the Irish Setter breed. I am just so completely thrilled because here's this dog who started out his life as one of 20 or so neglected puppies brought in to a shelter by cruelty agents, and look where he is now. He was a great example of why adoption is so rewarding for everyone involved. I really hope I don't come off as a snob right now but I'm just very proud - I take no credit - Riley did all of the work. We're going back later today and tomorrow. I'll be sure to post pictures, I already have like 100 haha. Oh and I was part of a presentation on the Irish Setter breed and Riley was the example, he got to stand in front of everyone in this big tent while the audience learned about his breed.

Thanks so much for reading this if anyone did, it just feels good to share how well he did. Riley is the first dog that's actually mine and it means *so* much to me that I'm seem to be doing an okay job. Of course, I just have been blessed with an incredible dog.

Yay Riley!  I'm soooo proud of you.  Five hours at a festival for me is tough.  I don't do crowds well.  You handled it & were a great representative of your breed.  GoooooBoyyyyy.

That's wonderful!  Way to go Riley!Party!!!Yes

See it's events like that, where having a well behaved dog out in public can be the best ambassador for the breed, which is exactly what Riley did for the Irish Setters!  Congrats, considering that his start in life wasn't as positive! You should be proud!

You have all the right to take credit for being a good and loving Mommy to Riley!  You gave him a second chance at life, he is so good because he is so happy!

That's awesome! I have found that my dogs always surprise me when we go out in big crowds like that. It's like they know that they should be on their best behavior. None of that jumping, barking, etc. I think that more people should get their over-active dogs out in big crowds. It really helps show them how to behave!

You have every right to brag on Riley!!!  He is one lucky dog and it truly is amazing how dogs can adapt and become such wonderful pets if given the opportunity.  Way to go!  I love Irish Setters, that was the first dog I ever owned as an adult and I still get a thrill every time I see one of the most beautiful dogs in the world.

Thanks so much everyone! You have no idea how much it made me smile to read all of your replies. It made me feel so good and accomplished seeing how Riley behaved at the festival and hearing people who met him give compliments.
