Brindle Pit Bull Hair Problem?

    • Gold Top Dog

    Did you name him?
Not sure why I want to know, I guess I just find it weird you haven't called the dog by its name when typing about him.
Are you planning on neutering him?
It's in your dogs best interest to neuter him, especially since he's going to be living outside. It will descrease his urge to break or chew the chain to find a bitch in heat and mate.
Did you read my previous posts about how it's illegal to tether you dog 24/7 in many parts of GA? You might want to look those over also. It's very easy for someone to call the ACO/police in your area and report it, if it is illegal. The dog will then have to come inside, or you'll have to build a kennel outside, or can be taken from you (which I'm sure you don't want- right?).
Make sure he has all the necessary vaccines...especially his rabies because all dogs must have their rabies by law.
Frontline Plus or Advantix is defiantly necessary too, so fleas and ticks don't bite him.

You're only 18 years old can you handle the financial aspects of owning a dog? Are your parents going to help you?
When I was 18 I know I couldn't afford a dog on my own (I was in college and only working part time).

I want to build a kennel, but the ones ive seen on dog.com are small and expensive. Im building a house. So thinking of building a large kennel around it. Since i live on acres as ive said so a very large kennel fence right under the shade should work beatifuly. Dog isnt comming inside so i would want to make it as comfortable as possible outside.

His name is Rocky i just started a job, and my parents also want a dog, since we live on acres in the country and like to leave our belongings in the yard. I have had a kid come and steal my basketball twice. And the pup has been barking at things...and cars that are loud driving past the park. I came home late one night and he barked at me untill he realized who i was

You could defianlty build a nice kennel, with shade and shelter, completely fenced and secure, for less money than buying it.
Just make sure he has plenty of clean water to drink, because you know GA gets crazy hot in the summer.
Also, what do you think about neutering him? Just so he doesn't have the urge to escape to mate.

Listen, Pitties are not known to be guard dogs......see, that is how I know that you haven't done jack on research.......

I don't lock my house due to the following factors: my dogs have access to inside and out 24/7, if a person decided to steal something they would be insane, on drugs or totally dumb...and if they really wanted my stuff they would get it no matter how many dogs are around....so, the same applies to you.....they would check out how far the reach of the tie out is and bam.....or they would poison the dog or even cut it's throat....never mind shooting it while you guys are gone......

POINT!!! Having a dog on a tie out doesn't guarantee anything........and you .....have been exposed for your true intention!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

I will get that done in the next, 2 weeks. The lady at critturs convinced me said it would break out the mites even more than now when dogs are in heat. And i could probly get it done at the humane society because i know when u get a dog from them they do it for free. but they urge it so much i could probly do it for next to nothing i ment to call this morning but will find out how much it costs there

snownose  lol exposed? get a life... lol this is the net your sad....... YOUUUU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED lol!!  how old are you?
    • Gold Top Dog

    These are your words -

This dog wont be running wild will be kept tied on a pretty long cord with nothing but grass.

But will be put on a better chain later.

Right now , the tie wont support him if he gets older but thats because he's only a pup and doesn't have any
intentions to get lose. I could untie him and he wouldn't go anywhere. But im sure when the time comes ill get
    something better.

So why wait and do what you can do today. Any pup can chew thru a cord. If you are going to get a chain I would get a
tie out cable. It is a cable in bedded in plastic so it doesn`t hurt the dog if it gets tangled up in it. So they say.

I know of a person that had 3 dogs one at a time and all got as pups. All were tied out 24/7. All broke the chains
and ran loose and he had to go look for them after work. We among some other people would catch the dog at the time and
fix the chain only to have the dog break it again. First dog he shot second dog he said he took to a shelter. The third
one he bought a kennel for only it was to small with the doghouse in it and the dog would jump up on the dog house
and jump out. He shot that one too. Three dogs all got as pups not happy outside. Yes he did exercise them as I lived
just across the street from him. They would lunge and bark at people walking by on the street. Aggression - no
loneliness - yes. They were very friendly dogs.

You could get your dog a kennel which is much better then a tie out. Just make sure it is big enough to fit your
    dogs size when full grown.

    More of your words -

Because the breed is soo complex and takes lot of responsibility i dont think ill get tired of it. Even when he is
older and not the cutest grown dog.

My dog is cute playing in the grass. When he is older and bigger i still have to remember him as the cute dog
playing in the grass and take responsibility.

    Now you say--

On top of that pitbulls are always cute. Ive never seen a adult pitbull that wasnt cute enought o play with. So
saying when the dog isnt a puppy he will not be played with isnt the case at all...cause when he is fully adult he
will still be just as cute and funny as he is now.

    These comments bothered me.

    Your words -

Yesterday, there were alot of kids playing with him so i didnt have to they played with him for hours while i
    played ball...

Here you say so i didnt have to

Hope you are not already looking for someone to play with your dog so you can do what you want to like playing ball.

    One more -

I will definitely read some more information from google about the breed.  But im young, and even though young kids
lose interest and attention span is short. Im more entergetic and eager to learn from my expierences.

If wood chips are good, i have a big pile of those lol, we use those on the back poorch.

Sorry but I`m starting to wonder just how old you are. You say we. You say im young. Wondering if you are going back
to school this fall. You say you have a job. So if you live alone with a job make sure that your dogs water bowl can
not get tipped over. Dogs need lots of water when its hot but I`m sure you already know that. If you live with someone
like your parents they could check for you during the day while you are gone.

One more thing I would like to say is I started a different post on chained dogs. I have seen so many bad things that
have happened to them but heres just one more. Sweetest little dog ever out on a tie out and the owner found the dog
dead. The dog got stung by a bee and had a reaction from it and died. The owner didn`t know what the poor dog went thru
as she was in the house. I know this first hand because I was her owner. I would put Muffin out on a tie out just to go
potty as she did live in the house. I thought she would be ok. If I would have checked on her sooner maybe I could have
saved her. I have to live with the decision that I made putting her on a tie out just to go potty. Because of my action
I killed my dog. I got Molly at 8 weeks old in 2006 and she got stung by a bee at a  little over 8 weeks old. Yes she
when to the vet just to make sure (thank god we were already in town). Molly got stung by a bee that lives in the ground
so no pup is safe as she was just doing the puppy stuff sniffing the ground.

This happened in 1972 with Muffin. I too was young. I have never tied out a dog since until the Fluffy thing (in the
other post) and that was just a temp thing while I was fixing the fence and I was out there with her until the drink
thing. I have two dogs now and when they go out in the fenced yard I am with them at all times. I will never go thru
what I did with Muffin. Always expect the unexpected could happen.

I sincerely hope the best for your dog. Hope he keeps his cuteness as he has now as a pup. Looking forward to seeing
    pictures as he grows up.

Just to note I use spell checker so I may have corrected some of your words. Didn`t mean to just got carried away. Sorry.

I also wrote this on notepad so it may look kind of funny. Tired of writing a reply or post and have the internet go bad and a person looses everything only to start over.

How much time should i set everyday as much as possible im sure. When i go run its usely for an hour. And usely come back to refil waterbottle and go work out some more.

Keep in mind a young dog should not go jogging/running until it's at least 18 months of age.  They need to mature physically before doing long runs and jogs or it will damage the joints or cause growth problems.

    Just do me a favor!

Please, take care of this dog and not let it be a dog that is disposable. At this point that is all I care about when it comes to what you are presenting here.I hope your parents can assist you in what needs to be done with this dog, and I hope they have the knowledge of what it takes to deal with a teenager with ill intent!!! ( it's ok to look up the dictionary ......lol)

When you say "take" a puppy from a pet store does that mean you are purchasing it?  If so how is that "rescuing" it vice buying it?  Wouldn't the dog need to be in some sort of bad/dangerous situation before it could be "rescued"?

I don't know how anyone else does it, but for every dog, be it residence, rescue, or foster, I have always had to give up personal resources in the exchange.  2 of my residence dogs were petshop exchanges.  I purchased an Old English Bulldog and while there I spotted a Great Dane housed in a wire cage and clearly she has outgrown her enclosure.  I knew nothing about the breed nor do I recall ever seeing a full grown one.  My only reference was the Disney movie "The Ugly Dachsund".  The OEB was a purchase while the Dane was a rescue.

For two other residence Danes, I spent a lot of time "shopping" and visited many breeders.  When I finally picked out one, there was another, all white, clearly deaf, and her white coat texture was different from the others.  I knew this dog's fate so I said I would take that one too.  Paid the same amount.  A few weeks later, I had my pups.  I consider the breeder exchange as one purchase dog and one rescue.

Another residence Dane came from a rescue who only does puppies.  The Dane was orphaned and his puppy qualities soon left as he grew. He looked so out of place and everyone just passed him over for the smaller "cuter" puppies.  A rescue.  With the exception of the white GD, all of the dogs were not in bad/dangerous situations.

I have many more examples.  Do you see a theme.  It is about how the dogs are living and their future.  If you can better that life, I think you can consider it a rescue.  In the transport of dogs, sometimes it is a big issue for some people to transport one shelter dog to another shelter, even if the dog's chances of being adopted is better.  I have had to do a lot of convincing that the shelter dog will have a better life if the dog comes to me.

The OP did not give any information regarding the breeder.  I don't think it was relevant to the request for help.  If the OP stated the breeder was reputable, I am sure there would be an assumption that the pups were well cared for.  What I saw was the asumption that the breeder was irreputable so with that assumption why is it so hard to also assume the living conditions was bad and the OP's care could be a step up.

I am not defending the OP, just bringing up the necessary minimum requirements for the proper care for the pup.

thanks , cause i took him back and forth. he kept up because on the way back i mostly walked. And walked a lil on the way up. Pretty entergetic tho..when we got back he still wanted to play jumping and stuff

I can understand the point that if one is getting a dog to improve its living conditions then one could consider that to be a "rescue".  However if you read the original posters story he made no such claim.  He claimed "I am to buy an brindle pitbull mixed with rednosed pitbull..." He later stated " This guy is not a trained breeder. His dogs just had pups and pitbull pups are easily sold. So i purchased one..." .  That doesn't really sound like he was rescuing the dog but rather just buying a dog from someone that would give him credit.  It appears from his post that he had not even seen the dog or its living conditions prior to agreeing to purchase it so I can't quite see how he would have known it needed rescuing.  He also has stated that he intended to continue the with the same type of living conditions that the dog was living in so again can't see how it meets your definition of a rescue?

I purchased my pup from a breeder.  The breeder had the pups in a kennel, yes the kennel was clean and heated but my intention was to keep the dog in the house which in my opinion is an improvement over living in a kennel.  It would be a very large stretch however for me to now claim I "rescued" the puppy!  But hey like I said it is really not important if he claims the dog was "rescued" as long as he provides the care and attention that the dog needs.
