    So Frustrated!!!

A friend of mine told me about a friend of hers who is aware of severe horse abuse at a farm in a nearby town. The owner is in Hawaii and has left the animals with someone at the farm and at least one has died already. The girls who knows about the abuse works there and is seeking alternate employment prior to making a report as she is afraid of losing her job. She won't do it anonymously and my friend won't find out anything else for me so I can do it!!!!!! I am so upset right now. Is there anything I can do???????????? :(

This is uncool I feel your frustration if you know the location the horses are at ring & complain to your local horse rescue or if there is some kind of animal rescue at all your aware of I am sure they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction to get some action for the horses.

If there is one already dead something needs to be done quickly the others are at risk

Just a random thought why is your friend worried about loosing her job? Sounds like the place should be shut down anyway. Or why isn't she taking action as an employee I sure as beep would I would undermind the person in charge. The owner would prefer that than your friend seeking other employment & the horses getting in a state. But I don't know the full story but that would how I'd handle it

I don't know the location. I even asked her if she just knew the street name. The girl who works there is her friend and she "needs the income". I could never stand by and watch abuse happening or the sake of an income. She should wish to get fired so she could at least collect unemployment! I am going to keep trying until my friend finds out something for me. It's out in the country so it cold be literally anywhere!! There are a lot of farms out in that area. This makes me sick!!!!!! I am going to call animal services anyway and tell them what I know. At least it's something.........

Sounds like that poor girl has got things a bit confused, no money is worth animals dying. So the owners of the actual farm is away, her actual employers I am guessing. Sounds like she needs to stand up for the horses rights against the person that is looking after the property.

If I was her employer and got home from a holiday to a dead horse & dying horse I would fire her right there for not taking action. But heck it could be more complicated than that.

Yeah alert them if you know the general area they may start a look around, but sounds like it could be time consuming or who knows they may have an idea where the horses could be. Some action is better than none huh?

Good luck & keep us posted, would be nice to know the horses get the help they need hopefully!

Hunterwayit -- we're having a recession here, and someone without an education who is working something like manual labor may be terrified right now about losing ANY income (it literally can mean life and death to people with children -- they could end up homeless with the loss of one paycheck -- to some people right now it IS that terribly severe).  It can also be a situation where this person may only have one skill and they fear retaliation by the other person that may make it horrible for them to get another job.  Trying to find a job after you've been working at someplace that got shut down is NOT easy.

That being said -- Sunshinegirl -- call the SPCA tomorrow.  Forget Animal Control -- they won't investigate.  BUT the SPCA may have enough horse connections to pretty well be able to determine who may be "out of town" and hired shady/cheap help.  They simply may need the one report as an excuse to poke around.

Tell your friend to reason with her friend -- seriously, trying to find OTHER work after a place has been shut down for neglect?  It's the kiss of death and your friend's friend will fare better as a whistleblower than waiting around for the other shoe to drop.

I called about the situation today and was told that without an address they can't do anything. So, I'm going to keep working on my friend to just get me the address. I hope she will try to get it for me, it's really bugging me to know that those poor animals are suffering and nothing's being done about it.

And tell your friend that doing the right thing is not always easy but it is always worth it.

Trust me, I know how hard it is to get and keep a job. Has your friend thought of applying to work for the SPCA? The money is not great but the people get a chance to do good and make a difference.
