Our turn....

    Our turn....

Tonight was our first run-in with a loose, aggressive dog.  Well actually we've had a few run-ins with a pretty aggressive mini-Dachshund, but we avoid that house now and that dog is so small even when he's aggressive my dogs don't get upset, they just kinda kick him off (he bites ankles of people and dogs, anything that moves really).  Well tonight I was walking Coke and Kenya by myself, we were almost home, when this huge fat Beagle comes tearing down a driveway, growling and spit flying, and charges up to Coke.  Kenya jumped out of the way, but the Beagle got all up in Coke's face.  The owner came running, screaming the dog's name but of course the dog was deaf to it.  She was growling and lunging at Coke's neck, who was dancing around trying to get out of her way.  It only lasted about 10 seconds, the owner ran over, alpha rolled her dog, said "SORRY!" without looking me in the eyes, and carried the dog into the house.  Me and my dogs just stood there like "well then!"  Neither dog seemed to really care so we went on our way like nothing happened.  Coke never tried to defend himself and my dogs were under my control both on the public sidewalk the entire time (it's not like they were walking on this Beagle's yard, I don't let them walk in people's yards only the area between the walk and the street).  I'm thankful they didn't get shaken up by it.  I don't have any trouble walking both my big dogs by myself (often we walk right past other people and dogs on the same sidewalk), but I don't need other people's dogs tearing around like that!  Sheesh.

Wow, the beagle was going for Coke's neck.  That's pretty serious.  Willow goes for the neck and she's very aggressive when she's doing that.  Boy, that's too bad a beagle is like that.  I'm glad the dogs didn't get bit or anything.

Good to hear that the dogs are ok......I am surprised that a Beagle would try to attack two large dogs......that's a first one for me......

Yeah luckily his fur is so insanely thick and the Beagle was so fat and so much shorter she never landed a good bite.  I think Coke was surprised more than anything.  She was frothing at her mouth she was so worked up.

I've always wondered what dog lives in that house b/c there's a dog house and a tie-out.  Now I know!

Snownose, the only dogs that have every approached us like that have all been small.  The mini-Dachshund many times, now this Beagle, and there are two Shih Tzus behind an e-fence that come out and raise hell at any dog who passes (but luckily they stop a foot before the sidewalk, still dangerous for them though if the passing dog does not take kindly to their carrying on).  There are also several dogs we pass walking on a routine basis and there's two tiny ones (Bichon mix and terrier mix) that are particularly reactive towards other dogs.  We have been approached by some large dogs off leash b/c several stupid people don't use leads or fences of any kind, but these dogs (a few labs and a GSP) will walk to the edge of their yard and just watch you pass or sniff at my dogs and that's it, they are not interested in a confrontation.
