    hmm I wanted to make a cake..but...

    I did not have any veg oil per the instructions on the box lol. I might have doomed my cake...but I melted the right amount of Crisco (which according to the label is several diff types of veg oils) and used that instead...well, here's to hoping. I want some CAKE!

    I think Crisco would work just fine. I think it's just solid vegetable oil. I know it's a substitute for butter, not sure about oil but it should work. Let us know how it turns out!

     I've read you can substitute applesauce for oil in recipes to reduce the fat.  I'm not sure if the ratio is one to one but I'll bet if you google, it would show up.  Hope the Crisco works for ya and you get your cake fix.  I love cake...mmm.......

    well...the cake LOOKS normal lol. Good sign right? I made a Bundt so it held fine and came out in one piece. We're waiting to try it til after Lily's swimming lesson...so here's to hoping!

    Its...CAKE! lol...all's well that ends well...Crisco CAN be substituted successfully apparently. At least in a boxed cake mix...hehe.

    I think you can substitute a few things for oil.  I've use applesauce in the past.  Supposedly doesn't change the flavor and is healthier.  A lot of people always use applesauce instead.

    I do know that you CANNOT use margarine from a little tub and scoop it out and measure it when making Chex Mix.  It turns into a gooey mess and never gets crispy again.  It must be the stick margarine, 70% veg. oil. 

    Also certain cookies I've made call for Crisco and MUST have Crisco, no liquids or margarines.
