I am planning to go this week to check out a daycare facility that I think we might use and if everything checks out, get on the waiting list. There are a number of things about this place that are appealing to me. They take infants at 8 weeks and have an open door policy which means I can come and go as I need to in order to nurse and it is close enough that this would be feasible for me to do a couple times a day. Or I can pump and they will feed our baby for us. They keep detailed info about diapers, feedings, sleeping etc and give it to you daily. They have an 8 infants/3 teachers ratio. They have age groups that will take us all the way up to kindergarten if we stay there and have a head start program as your child gets a little older. They have a cook that makes breakfast/lunch/snack if you want, included in the price, or you can bring your own. They give you a menu so you know what they are making. They have a locked entrance so you have to have a code to get in or be let in and they do background checks on the parents and people picking up your child. They are open 6:30-6:00. I have checked the BBB and there are no complaints. They do receive some government funding as well. On paper and on the surface everything looks really good.
What kinds of other questions would you ask? What types of things should I be looking for/checking out while visiting? I don't have to make an appt to visit. They told me to just drop by anytime. Since I am a first time mom and this is my first daycare exeperience, I know I am missing some things that might be important but that are not at the forefront of my mind. Any advice is appreciated.
