Mindless Chatter Tues

    Mindless Chatter Tues

Better late than never! I have a pretty busy mid-week going.

Yesterday I was bombarded with the worst of migraine hell. I even broke out in hives. No idea what that was about. Probably all this trouble I've been having lately.

I think I'm going to buy the Ford Escape. I drove the Patroit, Tribute, Compass and Rav4. The Jeep models were awful. While I love the ride and feel of a jeep, the engines were dogs. I'd get killed in those things trying to pull out in traffic.  I loved the Tribute - it's basically the same as the Escape and since I get a big discount on the Escapes, the escape wins. The Rav4 I love and of course nobody has anything bad to say about it. However, with the options that I want, the car would be $30k - and again, no incentives. Too steep.

Abbie got listed yesterday. Wish us luck that she gets adopted quickly! Although I will be so sad when she goes. She is a sweetie. But she barks and is a hole digger - she goes outside strictly to dig! So, she must move on to a new home.

Good luck Julie on your new car and on finding Abbie the perfect home.

Dr's appointment today uncovered an iron dificiency.  I wondered when that would show up again.  I got lucky with Kali, but I had it with Kale.  Ah well, nothing a few iron pills won't fix.  It does explain why I've been plagued with sudden points of exhaustion lately though.  I should have known.  I kept thinking it was my blood sugar, but that's been perfect.

I've also lost a couple pounds.  I think thats from the extra cleaning and stuff I've been doing lately.  Nesting....I just can't sit still....this is a good thing.  Dr. Dove wasn't worried about it, though he did ask to make sure it wasn't because I was sick or something.  He said, since I feel good and Baby is still moving around normally, its no biggie.

Is a baked potato with sour cream, cheese, bacon and chives good enough for a meal?  I made them for me and the kids but I don't feel like making anything else.  It covers all the food groups right?  Maybe I'll cut up some apples for dessert.

Can I eat at your house? :D

I'm in a bit of a funk.....trying to find a solution to a problem that doesn't have an easy solution.  And in the end, it's a minor thing...the fate of the world does not rest on me getting a Maremma I guess.  But the situation is a bit disheartening and I'm not sure what the right thing to do really is.

Dog sitting is going well, Bostons SNORE though.  And I used to think Meilani's dogs were just nuts Wink but now I think they exhibit typical BT behaviour because this one does that stuff too.  I'm hoping that tomorrow, after 3 non-stop days of bitey face and high-speed wrestling I will actually get some pictures.

Whats the point...I mean, here I am trying to be patient, waiting for puppy pics of a certain somebody's Maremma pup and apparently thats not a good enough reason for her to actually get one!

Kate, if you want a potato, come on over.  I should actually be able to do yours on the BBQ in the time it takes you to get here.....we microwaved ours...lol.

Oh and whats wrong with bitey face pics?

I must be behind, is the possible Maremma pup from your breeder friend a no-go? Sad

On the plus side, I've finally gotten my mother to switch her cats to a better food!  After months and months of telling her to take the cats off Fancy Feast (ugh), she bought her first bag of Blue Buffalo cat food today!!!  Yay!!!  My mom always talks about the cats' digestive problems and that Pia sheds ridiculously (which she had checked out by a vet), and I've been telling her to put them on a premium food.  I can't wait to hear if the cats do well on it!

And Nike went on his first trip to Pet Supplies Plus today, and did very well. Big Smile

Has anyone seen my BF? I make a NICE SUPPER and he can't even make it home at the right time. Whatever. He can nuke his pasta when he gets home and we didn't even save him any garlic bread. SO THERE!!

    /rant.

I got my hair highlighted today and it looks super-nice. My sis does it for me, since she's a stylist. She didn't have time to blow it out, though, yippee! I hate the blowdryer.

Infiniti, I remember when I got my mom to switch her dog from 'kibblez n chunks' to Purina One. LOL.

LOL I don't need a reason, I just need there to BE a pup.  The breeding didn't take and there are some severe issues within the breed here....health, temperament, working ability and conformation are all lovely in the dogs here, for the most part, but circumstances have meant no new litters to speak of for a long time.  I am giving some very serious thought to importing an adult Italian bitch (though I don't, especially, want a bitch) and letting the breeder here try to get puppies from her with the stud I love so much.  I'd keep a male from that.  The problem is I don't really have the space and convincing DH of TWO more dogs in a short space of time wouldn't be easy.

Oh, and Lisa, you weren't behind, I haven't posted this before because I was/am so crushed about it.

ETA:  There's nothing wrong with bitey face pics, they are at it again so that's what you'll get.  LOL.

Aw Kate, I'm sorry.  Is there something about the breed that makes the breeding hard to take?  Seems to me I read something about that in the post you made before.  I could be dellusional though, its happened before.

But....if you import a bitch... would you whelp the litter?  and would we get more pictures?  Of Maremma Puppy Toesies?

I think it was actually Becca who said it first....once successfully bred they are excellent mothers, but getting to that point is tricky.  They are not particularly easy dogs to breed even with successful ties.  In the 70's (I think, may have been a bit earlier or a bit later) an Italian breeder loaned two bitches in whelp to essentially save the breed here.  They were sent over, whelped the litters in quarantine and the bitches were sent back, the puppies stayed here.  Out of two large litters (I believe they were 9 puppies and 8 puppies) not a SINGLE ONE was ever successfully bred....so while people like me got their Maremmas at that point...it didn't do anything to really help.

A lot of the history is long and complicated...I don't know nearly all of it LOL...but suffice it to say there are no puppies around and no guarantee that there WILL be puppies even when the bitches that are here go into season.

I would not whelp it, no...I'd let the breeder try to have a litter with her.....all that, of course, being dependent on whether she'd want to.  I'd go and take pics of toesies, though.
