Tranqulized meat, a long car ride, and a high kill shelter. And not a word to anyone, as your neighbor is as scary as his dogs. Ick. I hate that I even think that's a reasonable option. Your police and AC are so useless I could scream. Super Angry

I thought about that. But I dont know how much trouble that will be. They have 5 dogs. 3 are nice dogs. One is an old collie. I wouldnt want to get the wrong ones.

    • Gold Top Dog

Wellll.... the tranquilizer should make 'em sleepy, not dead. If you knew who was nice and who was mean, you could let the nice ones sleep it off.

Ok Bonita I am taking your advice. I have the vet bill and will get everything together.

Now what am I supposed to do about Lillie being depressed? Oh and now Cheyanne is very pumped up and is going crazy at the sight of those dogs standing in the middle of the road barking down here. So how do I get Cheyanne to calm down? I dont need her to be DA now because of this.

I am so sorry that Lillie was attacked, that poor baby.

My husband and I had to fence off a section of the yard so that Kord would be contained, we did it for less than $50 dollars. It is not beautiful, nor the best, but it is good in a way that it cannot be climbed, it would have to be jumped over or dug under. My husband hand measured and built the gate to fit. With not knowing how big an area you need to fence in, to keep them out, here is what we used.

    http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100318388&N=10000003+90115+527472

I could not find a picture of the metal poles we used, they are build to hold this type of fencing, they have metal wings that are pounded down into the ground, and clips going both up and down to hold the fencing. We re-enforced that by wireing the fence to the pole as well.

    Here are some pictures....

The pole is sturdy enough for my husband to attach a bird feeder to it:

And this showes the gate my husband made............

    Good luck!

Seriously use that letter example  to help put your stuff together... I was a Community Relations Director for McDonald's South San Diego, which meant I went through more classes on taking on trouble than most folks knew exisited.

DO NOT papmer Lillie, treat everything as a matter of fact, if when she goes out she balks or looks worried Do NOT reinforce by saying Poor Lillie that bad doggie etc, etc... INstead anticipate , approach the door with high value treats and a leash do not stop in the front yard head for the car and take brief little Pet Smart trips , liet others admire her, stop by the vets several times just to get a cookie and be weighed, do not allow her to develop a phobia all transfered from the attack.  When you need to be in the Yard Ignore behavior that whines for attention or action that tells you she is nervous...by Ignore I mean do not acknowledge it just be aware, be fore anything escalated take her in or work her in basic disciplines.... High energy , Lillie Sit, Lillie down, heel come..... If you want her to feel great about being a pretty show gril take her ot an outlet strip mall lots of outside activities, a bag full of cookies and encourage folks to talk to her , pet her and treat her all the while you are stacking and watching her body language and form in the mirror of the big store windows...

Cheyenne will Of COurse want to be the Sheriff Do Not Allow her to determine your activities, more runs to the local pet friendly stores and a class in basis manner s and actions. Do not allow anyone who was off the furniture to all of a sudden get on it.  Do NOT choke up on a lead, simply make yourself aware of her vibes and watch her.

electricity works wonders.... if that fails then use bullets.... Remember the Three S's

i am dead serious and i wont discuss it further. that situation goes way beyond my borders of patience and understanding. i love dogs... sure. but sometimes my dogs are more important the ones nextdoor that are causing havoc.

    • Gold Top Dog

    What are the 3 S's?

    • Gold Top Dog

I 100% agree woth Bonita and MRV, you cant let this continue.....your quality of life and peace is being sacrificed. What is it going to take for these owners to take control of their dogs?

i'd be banned if i told you lol

I would absolutely go after these people in court for the damage they have done to poor Lily emotionally and physically. What scum!!!!

I would ask for damages, as well as the cost of a professional trainer to help get her over the incident. I would make a huge stink about damage to her show career (even if you didn't plan on going to Westminster). This is not OK, and the show dog piece might be where you are able to leverage the situation. Use it.

I hope these jerks lose their home having to pay you.. you'd get what you need for Lily and they'd be gone from your neighborhood.

Poor Lillie I hope everything turns well for you.

I'm so sorry that you and the Lillie and Cheyenne had to go through this! And I hope you have success suing these people!

Sometimes I wish that I lived on a commune with all of you people.  Big Smile

Poor, Sweet Lily.  I feel so bad for her AND you!.  Yay Cheyene for taking up for her sister!

I wholeheartedly agree with the advice about documenting the incident and writing a diplomatic letter (sent certified, return receipt requested).  Even if they don't go pick it up (and they likely won't), you have initiated a paper trail which is required before civil action can take place (here in TX anyway).  Then, have someone take the letter over and hand it to them (unless you fear they would cause bodily harm to that person).

Its going to take a bit of time for the incident to wear off both of your dogs.  I fully agree to make things as normal as possible for both of them.  You are still in shock, they are too.

A low cost fence using something similar to chicken wire held up with T-Posts may be a good idea.  Also sends a message to those that will be involved...AC, sherriff, whomever.

Dealing with neighbors ignorance is so frustrating...there have been several incidents on my road that entailed either having a conversation, writing a certified letter or even writing a letter and hand delivering it.  All but one of these incidents were resolved, albeit with painstaking efforts on our part.

But, don't mess with my family, my dogs.  Lest you deal with the wrath of a Texas Woman!

I cant do anything about what happened to Lillie. I was the only one to "witness" it. I cant "prove" that those dogs attacked her.

    So what now?

    • Gold Top Dog

Actually, with the vet records from this attack and the word of the neighbors that these dogs have previously been at large (plus your previous complaints-0 you can get those reports), you probably DO have something of a case.

In the mean time? I'd start calling 911 every time I saw those dogs out. "My kids are playing in the yard and these dogs won't go away and they're acting weird!" Document that these dogs ARE an ongoing problem. 911 calls are recorded and if there's a person in danger from the dog, well, that's who you call.
