Sometimes I wish that I lived on a commune with all of you people.
Poor, Sweet Lily. I feel so bad for her AND you!. Yay Cheyene for taking up for her sister!
I wholeheartedly agree with the advice about documenting the incident and writing a diplomatic letter (sent certified, return receipt requested). Even if they don't go pick it up (and they likely won't), you have initiated a paper trail which is required before civil action can take place (here in TX anyway). Then, have someone take the letter over and hand it to them (unless you fear they would cause bodily harm to that person).
Its going to take a bit of time for the incident to wear off both of your dogs. I fully agree to make things as normal as possible for both of them. You are still in shock, they are too.
A low cost fence using something similar to chicken wire held up with T-Posts may be a good idea. Also sends a message to those that will be involved...AC, sherriff, whomever.
Dealing with neighbors ignorance is so frustrating...there have been several incidents on my road that entailed either having a conversation, writing a certified letter or even writing a letter and hand delivering it. All but one of these incidents were resolved, albeit with painstaking efforts on our part.
But, don't mess with my family, my dogs. Lest you deal with the wrath of a Texas Woman!
