Oh, Emma, how I love you!
Today, Emma was sitting on a grooming table next to the door of the grooming area, watching me help a customer pick out chewies for her new puppy. The table is kept low, and her bed is on it. She sits on this table EVERY DAY. Her little head disappeared, and I assumed that she'd hopped down, like always. I continued with that customer, and helped another, and went back to praise her for behaving. She was hunched over, at the door, and there was urine all over the floor. She was upset that she'd peed, but she kept saying, "It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!"
Of course, I called the vet. It was a quarter til 5, but they are open til 7 on Mondays. They said to come on. Emma was knocked out, and x rayed. She has a lot of soft tissue damage to her right hip, and existing arthritis in her left hip and lower back. It was a lovely set of x rays. I'm thrilled that she doesn't have HD. The vet says we're doing everything right. She probably just slipped, or landed funny. She's not allowed to hop up or act crazy for the next week, and if she's still feeling crappy tomorrow, I'm supposed to let him know.
Right now, she's pretty out of it. I washed her this morning, but of course... the sedative made her barf. She laid in it. She expressed her anal glands, and peed on herself when we rolled her over to get the pictures. Poor kiddo. She had to have another bath, when she got home. I just sat on the edge of the tub, draped her over my lap, and bathed her. I asked them not to reverse the sedative. The more she relaxes, the faster she'll heal. She's starting to come out of it, now.
