    Mindless Chatter - Monday

    *yawn*

My cable got shut off because I didn't pay it. I think I'll just cancel it all together. It's not like there's anything on in the summer anyway and I hardly have time to watch it. Not worth paying $100 for. Besides, maybe it's time for a change to satellite in the fall.

I couldn't find my crackberry this morning. Unfortunately, people usually just call me on that for work instead of my office phone. I couldn't call my own number to find it because I don't know my own number! I'm thinking one of the dogs took it outside. I seriously looked every where - even outside!

I'm putting Abbie up for adoption today. My house will be way too calm once she's gone. What will I do? Let's see, train Lily, work with Neiko on frisbee, maybe go in to agility again....fostering dogs really takes up a lot of time and energy.

I am teaching my dogs to take turns for just about everything. For getting on the bed, couch or chair for a snuggle, for taking treats, etc. It's creating a bit more order in the house.

I took Neiko to herding on Sat for the first time in a couple of months. I figured we'd have to start from square 1 because it'd been so long. For the first few mins, he ignored the sheep and the trainer and just ate sheep poo, peed on things and acted like he wanted nothing to do with the entire thing. After that though something clicked and he worked for a solid 10 mins before taking a break. She had him walking the sheep in then doing a "stand" (something he's never done before), then "ok come by" and so on. He was fantastic!!! We were both floored at how well he worked. She even set up and out run for him to work on. He wasn't out far enough so she said "out" and he actually moved out to give a bigger arc. My jaw about dropped to the floor. I was so happy with this training session. The trainer says that he's ready for his first competition - one is coming up in Sept. We are going to start to work him in the larger pen next time. I'm so proud of him :)

I had a good weekend. Saturday I was a SLUG and just read a book. I needed that day. Yesterday we had a friend with a Lab join us for a day of fun. Gus her lab is Belle's boyfriend, he is a handsome (but not the brightest bulb) yellow. We did agility in the AM at our training facility, we can rent the building for $10 an hour per person. Then I rode and then we went to the local dock for dock jumping. Gus is learning this game.

I have a Belle brag as far as that goes. Belle has natural "pop" off a dock, everyone who has seen her jump is amazed at the height she jumps naturally. Many have said she is a natural for extreme vertical where the dogs jump up off the dock to grab a bumper suspended out over the water. We tried to train her to do it but she would not look up and she certainly would not go into water doing it. Yesterday trying to help Dawn get the idea to hold the bumper up to assist Gus figuring out how to jump up, Belle and I demonstrated. I got to the end of the dock, held the bumper up as high as I could out over the water and SHE DID IT!!!! She ran down the dock jumped up and grabbed if from my hand. I was SO proud of her. She is such a goofy dog, I wish I could get her to jump in competition. She can be such a jumping freak!

hehe that sounds awesome, Maxs Mom!!  I LOVE watching the dock jumping stuff!!!

Today is my first day back to work in a week mmmm vacation.  I am loooaded with work, but I don't mind :D

I think my co worker will be a little distant from me, and that's okay, I told her off friday before I left for my vacation (not last friday, friday before that).  I wasn't going to say anything to her about hat was on my mind, until she confronted me, and even then I wasn't going to say anything until she told me I was being rude.  Then I confronted her.

Annnnyway!  I am glad to be back!!

Is it Friday yet?  I hate my job and am SO glad I went to the employment agency on Friday to help me find new employment.  This weekend was GREAT!  Took Ari out for a couple of longer walks, some swimming, did some lounging took a nap on Sunday (even slept in on Sunday - cough sleeping in now means sleeping till 6:30am lol).

Dock jumping sounds great!  I could see Ari doing that when she gets much older!

The smoke lightened up on Sat and the sun has been shining ever since, plus the temps dropped to the mid 90s vs. 100+, so it was a great weekend.

I took today off but have several errands to run so I'm hoping to get those out of the way early and have the rest of the day to just relax.

I woke up this morning with the thought "How far away is Friday?".  Sad, isn't it.

I lost a crown on Saturday evening while eating jelly beans in a movie theatre.  I just pushed it back on but I have to go get it adhered today.  They can see me at 12:40 - yay (not).

Starting on Friday afternoon I am going home to visit my brothers for a weekend and then I have the rest of the week off work.  What shall I do?

It's Christmas in July, I tell ya!

A few weeks ago, we got a letter regarding DH's financial aid for the upcoming school year.  I was disappointed to see we were getting only half as much need-based aid from the school as we did last year.  We setup and appt. with the aid director and discovered that last year, they asked for all sorts of financial information beyond what was on the form.  After I gave her the missing info, she said she would re-package the aid.  DH is finished in Dec. and I noticed that for the gov't money, they split it in half.  I asked her if she could accept the full amount and apply it ALL toward the first semester and she didn't see why not.

Today I checked DH's school account and so far he has over $16000 in aid for the fall semester!  That's not even including the $1200 rebate we get because I'm an employee of the college.  So we should get almost $8000 back, which we can put in savings and earn interest and use towards our private loans with higher interest rates.  I'd rather accept the gov't money at a locked in, low interest rate and use it to pay off private loans with higher rates than decline the money.  Also I like having a padding in savings, earning interest.  Best of all, this means we definitely don't need to take out another high interest private student loan for this semester.

So it's not exactly free money, but still! Big Smile

Ugh, college. I was trying to enroll in classes last week, but in order to enroll in upper-divsion courses, they have to have my GKT (stupid standardized test) scores. I take my GKT on July 26, and the scores take 6 weeks, which is too late for me to enroll in anything this fall. So, I get to take ONE STINKING CLASS. I could take other classes, but they won't apply toward my major. So I'm hoping my scholarship doesn't dump me for not being enrolled in enough hours. I might just HAVE to take dumb, non-applicable classes. Maybe I'll take yoga. I think they offer that...LOL.

Oooooh, if you can, get enrolled in a cult studies class!!  They examine all these different religious cults and whatnot, super interesting!

This day got worse...and then better.

I went to the dentist.  What is so hard about cleaning the old adhesive off the tooth and crown and gluing the darn thing back on?!??  Well, it turns out the tooth is sensitive to any liquids other than my own.  That includes all the stuff they wash and "paint" it with and the glue.  To top it off the first glue didn't work, the crown just popped right off, the second glue didn't work either....sigh.  Three times the pain and frustration than it should have been.

Then...I get back to work and discover that DH has managed to find a flight for me (for free) to go visit home this weekend.  I've just avoided 14 hours of driving...yipeee!!!!!  Then, I start getting emails from friends who have heard I'm visiting.  This is going to be a great weekend....now it just has to get here!

I just found THE COOLEST thing behind our place. It's a big park, with sidewalks and a pavilion! It goes all through the Indian River Lagoon. I didn't even know it was back there. Pirate is mucho tired now.

I would like to announce that is it TACO NIGHT at my house!

The pool is full, but now its evening time and nobody can swim...haha!
