used to watch RELIGOUSLY as a young'un but life got in my way. This time we have TIVO I don't have to miss a thing I want to see.

Micheal Phelps is a student here at UM, he might have graduated this year I know he started "late" because of the Austrailia games starting in September. I have never been able to find him in the UM system, I have tried. I probably could if I had student access. I will root for him, and I want to see gymnastics, anything horsey, I like some of the track & field too.

I watch all the primetime coverage.  We will be on vacation at a lake for these two weeks, so I will not be watching during the day unless I'm taking a break from tanning or the weather is bad.

When I lived in Canada the olympics would be covered for a 12 hour stretch and then repeated for 12 hours.  I was known to stay up all night to watch it live, as much as possible.

I don't enjoy the coverage in the States as much because they only go to events where the USA is medalling and we don't get to see the best of the best, no matter the country.

Stories like this are a good example of why I watch...the heart a lot of these athletes have...the dedication is so inspiring

I don't make it a point to watch, but I don't make it a point not to watch, either.  If I wander through the living room and someone is watching, I'll sit and  watch for a bit.  I actually like the winter olympics (skating, luge etc.) better anyway.

That is a very inspiring story. I hope he does really well.

There's a female swimmer who's 41 y.o. and I'm really excited to see how she does too.

I'll watch the equestrian events, swimming, & gymnastics.  I don't really care about the rest.

most of the events i am interested in probably wont be on in primetime. so i probably wont watch as much as i have in the past. i am really excited about bmx being included this year. most likely will only be worth a few minutes mention if that. none of the cycling events are typically given much (if any) primetime air time.

i will probably watch the swimming events. no interest in gymnastics. it is too long and drawn out. kinda like figure skating for the summer months. track events are usually pretty interesting, but the really interesting events, like the steeple chase, arent shown.

mainly i wish nbc would dump costas and get someone new.

edit: i have been watching some of the olympic trials. i am glad they are showing some of that this time. it helps you to get to know who some of the athletes are before olympic competition beings, and gives a more realistic insight into the fact that these guys/gals dont just compete once every 4 yrs. they are competing and training on a yearly basis, and there are many great athletes who just out of the olympics.
