Good luck with everything, but I don't think it's a good idea to adopt a dog that wouldn't get along with the ones you have now, I know you have the option of housing them separately, but how fair is that for the dog itself, or what if the aggressive dog gets loose?
We took all of that into consideration, which is why we said a seriously dog aggressive dog- not just a prey driven dog- wouldn't work for us right now. But the truth is, pits are, as a breed, quite often dog aggressive. While it would be WONDERFUL to find a pit that loved all other dogs, I realize that it isn't realistic- and I wouldn't exclude a dog for being dog aggressive when I have the means to keep them seperate. It's something LOTS of pit bull people deal with, and if you're willing to take the time and put forth the effort to keep them seperated- as long as everyone gets equal attention- I think it's fine.
Okay, so now for the update...He is NOT dog agressive...and WE GOT HIM!!! [sm=dance.gif]
We went out to the shelter, and no one was there but some construction workers- apprently they're remodeling the shelter and all of the dogs were in foster homes. Long story short, we waited about 30 minutes for the ACO to get there to drive us to his foster home. We got there, and I IMMEDIATELY loved him- he was zipping about the the big backyard with about 7 or 8 other dogs of various sizes....obviously not dog aggressive. [

]
We spent about an hour getting to know him- his foster mom asked us a ton of questions, we asked a ton of questions about him....his foster mom liked us and we passed her test with flying colors. [

] The reason his Petfinder page said "dogs of his size," was because at the time he was listed, he hadn't been tested with any dogs larger or smaller than him. He will show some SLIGHT drivey interest in smaller dogs until he gets to sniff then and realizes that they are in fact dogs, and then they're like long lost buddies.
He is SUCH a lover. He has the absolute perfect personality for a dog...he is my dream dog. I just can't believe I found such an amazingly perfect dog, and that I FINALLY have a pittie. He already knows "sit," he knows his name and has GREAT recall and he seems to care about jnothing but pleasing everyone...a sharp "No" and he is super, super sorry for whatever he did wrong.
His foster mom already had him neutered and vetted, which is AWESOME...I was not looking forward to introing an unneutered male dog. He was neutered as an adult though so he has marked in our house already a time or two...but it's no biggie, he's a smart boy and we'll work on it. His foster mom kept him in a kennel outside, and I don't think he's ever been an inside dog.
He was a stray- found wandering in a crummy neighborhood sometime in march. He doesn't seem like he's been mistreated at all...he's a wonderful, lovey, gentle boy.
We've spent the last few hours introing him to my dogs one at a time. It was pretty darn uneventful- even with Pepito. They was a little stiff leggedness, but it all resulted in everyone running around and playing together in the end. My dogs are all pretty flexible, and thankfully he seems to be too. [

] None of my dogs are left alone together- even though they get along they're seperated or crated when we're not home- so his behavior when we're not watching isn't much of an issue.
So anyway, this has been an all day process and we're EXHAUSTED. The camera is charging, and he is BADLY in need of a bath, so it's into the tub with him, then I'll take some pictures. I love him...he is such a perfect boy. My dream dog! [
