The only thing I've made and taken a picture of was my Easter cake.. I thought it was pretty cute. Would've looked better though had it not been so freaking HOT. The icing was melting faster than I could pipe it, so the carrots on top look more like...orange and green globs. *sigh* It was tasty anyway.

Chelsea, you are a seriously cruel individual!  I've been wanting something sweet all day, & that cake looks great!

Could've looked better???  You're nuts!  It's hella cute!  If I'd done that, my kids would've made a scrapbook about it!!!  LOL  It's super cute.  Was it carrot cake inside?  I love carrot cake!

Ok, questions from the non-cooker gal!  That seems like only a little bit of flour, how many puddings does it make?  How much batter should go into each muffin tin?  What type of oil do you use?  And finally (whew!) the 200, that's Celsius I'm assuming?

It's not really a lot of flour no.  Depends on the size of your tin.... I made six LARGE ones.  Each section was about half full ish.  The same recipe will do 12 much smaller ones (I used to use a shallower tin with 12 sections instead of six.  Each section was full to the brim.... the oil rises to the top of the mixture and it would be pretty much overflowing). I know my sister has adapted the recipe to make the batter richer and to make it go further (she uses 2 eggs).  I will check quantities with her.

Yep 200 degrees C, or Gas mark 7.  Again, ISH.  Big Smile

That cake is beautiful!! I'd have paid money for that in a bakery, so you should be very proud of yourself. My DH loves carrot cake and I've made a few, but none have ever looked even close to that good.

LOL, awww, you guys are so sweet! Thanks for the compliments! Carrot cake is one of my favorites, but every time I ever made it myself, it wasn't great.. For Easter I used Alton Brown's recipe (was in the carrot episode of Good Eats, and it's on the food network website), and OMG yum! And cream cheese icing from scratch, of course.. I hate canned icing.

It was also my first real attempt at any sort of creative decorating (I made a US flag cake 4 years ago for July 4th..but I wouldn't call that creative, and it SUCKED..lol).. I'm not a creative person, like AT ALL, so I was pretty proud of it. Big Smile

I'm trying to think of some kind of cake decoration to make for the 4th of July (and my birthday, which is the 2nd..but I'm really trying to ignore it, so mostly for the 4th, LOL!) that is...patriotically themed, but not a flag. I also need to decide what flavor of cake to make. Anyone have any ideas?

my birthday, which is the 2nd

Happy early Birthday! My BF is the 3rd of July :)

Maybe make a star-shaped cake? I'm thinking if you made two round cakes, one chocolate one vanilla, you could cut them into five pointy pieces like a star. And then in the middle there could be fruit. Kind of like that lame flag cake people make with the strawberries and blueberries but in a cool star shape.

    That is so cute!!

And Miss Thang's carrot cake looks scrumptious and pretty.  I love carrot cake and now my mouth is watering for some.  Mmmmmm, sugar.

    Cool pics.

My old friend, Tony (RIP), even though of lithuanian descent, had a recipe for pasties that I never got. I've always wanted to have some so I guess I should look up some recipes. For those who might not know, pasties are a british dish of beef and assorted things in a kind of bread or flour shell.
