    They said yes!

The landlords approved another dog.  Now the search is on!  I have something pretty much picked out, but want to make dern sure it's the right pick.  I wish a dog would just fall into my lap...

OH! I can't wait to see what dog you get! I'm even excited for you! Lol

Yay! LOL I remember when you were waiting to get Kenya (when she was "Chopper!";). And now its the search for doggie number 3! You can never have just one can you? : ) I know whichever dog you get will be very lucky to be under your care. Are you thinking of a certain breed and purchasing from a breeder (that's the gist I get from your post) or a rescue? Just curious!

I'm just curious why you want a third dog?  I can understand wanting more dogs but you have two large dogs and rent, why a third?  Any particular reason?

Just to clarify I have 4 dogs and love each one, but 4 is too many.  I do all the training and just don't have time in the day to work with all 4 so some days some get less than others.  I can understand if it just happens but to search out for them?  Just different preferences I suppose.

Awesome! If only you lived out here where people drop dogs off when the dont want them. :/ Ham and Frankie both were dropped off at our farm and we never had teh heart to turn them away.

What kind of doggeh are you interested in? Small, big, terrier, toy, or another GSD?

Want to get into Schutzhund and/or SV conformation and can do neither with Kenya.  Coke is not a sport dog at all, he's happier lounging on the couch or just playing fetch so he requires very little mental stimulation.  Kenya is like 75% mental, 25% physical and Coke is like 95% physical, 5% mental, lol.  If people can handle 3+ kids I'm sure 2 dogs is doable.

Kyda, it will be a GSD.  I don't think any of my dogs will be anything but GSDs!

ISG, it will be from a breeder.  I have specific goals in mind for this dog.  I have been checking rescue though and have e-mailed about a few MIGSDR dogs but either got no response or found out the dog was already adopted.  Most of the GSD rescues have blanket requirements that I don't meet.

I am SO jealous that your getting a third!! I mentioned to DH I wanted to rescue one (there was a pure bred GSD in our local shelter the other day!) and he said No! Then I asked when I find a new full time job and we are financially stable can I please get another dog and he said he** no! I can't get him on board with it :-/ .. I would love to rescue just one more, no more puppies though! :) So yeah, I'm jealous...

Cool!  Good luck finding the right dog!  :)  I'd take on a fifth if I thought my other 4 wouldn't suffer but considering the kind of dog I'd want as a fifth, they probably would.  Sad  High energy dogs need more work and time than my 4 do combined and so yeah, they'd probably suffer and I don't want that to happen.  I love them too much. heh...

Rescueing dogs is great........ I, personally have to make sure on my end that all the issues with my other dogs have been ironed out and I have a good playing field.........and equal time for all ....wouldn't want any of them fall behind due to too much going on.......

Lucky girl!  I'm jealous.  There I said it.  I wish I had the time for even just my two.  Unfortuneately I think right now even just the two that I have aren't getting enough attention.  I'm hoping after the baby comes, a basic routine will work itself out, but who knows.  Right now, with the heat and being pregnant, all I want to do is lay around.  Luckily the dogs are of the same mind when it comes to the heat...

Someday, when I live on a farm....

That's exactly why I am making the choice I've just made in the past few days.  I'm not getting the dog I really REALLY want, because I don't have the right environment for that type of dog right now.  The new dog will be middle-of-the-road, as far as drive and energy, something biddable and easy to train, but a definite "off" switch and not the type of drive that I want, but the drive I can handle right now.  The dog I am getting is sort of a different dream, a dog I never thought I'd ever get mainly b/c of price and the type of breeding.

Last night we had a big BBQ and my SIL brought her 10 week old puppy.  Kenya has certain dogs she loves to play with but she's pretty indifferent about most dogs, however she was totally obsessed with the puppy.  Her eyes lit up and her tail was wagging so high.  Coke was a little too rambunctious for the puppy's size (probably b/c so many people were at our house and it got him reeeeeally excited) but Kenya was able to play with him and be gentle.  Afterwards the puppy came and laid on her paw.
