    Hello

    Hi,

I'm Lil, I'm a long time lurker, second time poster;-)

As a child I had dogs/cats even a pig once;-).  When I was a young adult I had a couple dogs, at that stage in my life, I fed table scraps, any dog food, I didn't know any better.

I am planning on getting another dog, I have my heart set on a lab;-) in the true sense I know nothing about crating, potty training, feeding raw, good food vs bad, and it's really important to me that I learn..

Having said this, I will get a cat first, I have to have all my ducks in a row (no pun intended;-D) I am most interested in learning.  I've read where some people feed their dogs/cats chicken, that's not cooked, I had no idea you could do this, I thought chicken bones were a no-no,whether they were cooked or raw! Very interesting.  I've read the different uses of pumpkin, I never would have known!

I have no idea the difference in food, beef, rice, lamb....Should I free feed or feed twice a day, I know this is subjective but I'm interested in hearing opinions and reading how others feed.

    So much too learn!

Hi Lil, welcome.   I just wanted to welcome you but you will find many people in this community way more knowledgeable than I.  Like you  we always just fed our dogs anything store bought and table scraps.  I have learned so much and have had lots of support when we lost our sweet Shadow to cancer in Jan.   I will put in my 2cents worth about the Lab you are wanting.... think about adopting.   There are so many wonderful dogs that need a caring forever home.   Rocky and Hot Shot are our adopted babies at present.  Something about adopting a dog or cat that has had a less than perfect life however long it has been. They always seem to love you with all their soul and you can see that in their eyes.  Just keep reading and learning and join in the fun.  Smile

    Thank you;-)

There's no doubt I would adopt.  Actually I would prefer a dog about a year old;-)
