Oh, Boris, you handsome, handsome boy.  I'm late & I hope my wishes for you are in time.  You can pull through.  I'm sending extra chin rubs & head butts your way as well.

Boris, this is Peaches (also an orange kitty) hopes you do well.

Yay, Boris! You're halfway there... now you just have to get better!  That's weird about the stuff in the bladder, they scraped all the crap out of the Evil Kitty's bladder. I hope he keeps getting better, and that he has no further complications in his life.

Wait!  Can't you put him on a special diet?  We had a dog in my rescue group that had a similar problem.  After surgery he was put on some special food.  He seems to be doing great now.  Give your boy some kisses from me & tell him to keep fighting the good fight.  We're all pulling for him.

We did put him on special food (Hills s/d) but it was just too late. The food takes about 3 months to dissolve the crystals and we couldn't wait that long, he was blocking almost everyday. He had to be taken to E-vet 2 times and 2 times to our regular vet for catheterization. It cost us almost 3,000 in that one week.

You might want to have the pH of your water checked also, we now believe that is what caused the crystals in Pluto's and Evil Kitty's bladders. Is Boris still doing well?

Yeah the water might have something to do with it.  I just realized this two days ago, our water comes from limestone bedrock, it's high in pH (8.4) and very hard, so lots of Calcium and Magnesium ions. Hmm, I know humans have been know to get urinary stones from hard water but I just never thought about pets. Boris drinks distilled bottled water now and we drink from tap, that little brat..   *kidding*.

Yeah Boris is still hanning on, although his health is not so good. We were ready to put him to sleep the day after surgery because he wasn't passing any urine but he surprised us by soaking our rug the next morning.  When he goes he goes in 10 or more intervals, he can't pee it out all in one time, I'm not sure if it's because of swelling, pain, crystals or what. He's on drugs all day long but still has some pain and his peeing is very weak but he's emptying his bladder somehow.  He's a surviver that little guy. Only time will tell if he'll make it or if his kidneys fail.

Here is Boris as a kitten, we got him from animal control office, seems like such a long time ago.
