    House gift ideas (mrstjohnson)

    My mom is looking for some ideas for a gift.  She and my dad were down in Brentwood, TN with their friends this past weekend visiting their friend's daughter and her family.  She wants to send the whole family something as a thank you.  She's not looking to spend a ton, but something the whole family could enjoy.  She checked into the Edible Arrangment (fruit bouquets) and although they would work they are really expensive (after delivery charges, etc.) for what you get.  Any other ideas??

     If food is a good idea, I've had a lot of success with igourmet.com, and their prices while not inexpensive are much more reasonable (they have great cheese gift packs, for example). If they like tea or coffee, a nice gift box of that might be appreciated. Flowers are always a good backstop, too. Or a nice box of chocolates. If they like Spanish foods, Latienda.com has good authentic Spanish cured ham, olives, things to make paella, spanish hot chocolate (which is almost like chocolate pudding)... Haha, can you tell I have a family that likes food gifts? Stick out tongue

    as food gifts go, cookiefsbydesign.com, or popcornfactory.com are both good.  They aren't outrageously priced and they have a lot to choose from.

    I like a good gift basket type gift.  Most florists do them now.  1800flowers.com is the one I use most, but teleflora.com or ftd.com or you can research giftbaskets on google. 

    Depending on the family a nice coffee table book would be nice. I know my estranged husband and I used to get these and I always liked them.

    A pretty houseplant?  Or a nice plant that could go outdoors?

    How about restaurant gift cards?? We give them to folks who work for/with us and they enjoy the idea they get a night out and zero dishes..
