Sleepwalking

    Sleepwalking

Does anyone else have a problem with sleepwalking?  Ever since I was little I have been either sleepwalking, or I wake up (fully awake) in the middle of the night and see people, or see I am in a different place, it isn't until I turn my light on that I realize where I am, and that the person I was talking to wasn't really there.

Although this has been happening since I was a child, last night I think was the last straw.  I woke up in the shower and the water on all over my pajamas at about 11:30 at night (i go to bed about 9 or so)

Does anyone else have a problem with sleep walking, or does anyone know how to 'fix' it?  Whenever I wake up in the night or if I wake up elsewhere int he house I am so exhausted the next day

I sleepwalk when I'm stressed.  I almost always wake up outside the house when I walk.

When I lived alone, I had bells on my bedroom door.  I'm a light sleeper, so when I went to open the door the bells would wake me.  Now, DH wakes me when I start walking.

I don't sleep walk but DH's uncle does.  One time he walked over to the neighbor's house with just his tighty whities on and rang their doorbell in the middle of the night.  They walked him home and put him back in the house...I should add that he lives in a very prestige neighborhood outside of Chicago so you can only imagine...nothing like having a bank president in their undies on your front stoop.

I don't sleepwalk, but my son does.  Last night he walked into my room, opened my garbage can and proceded to pee in it.  I was dumbfounded.  My room is right beside the bathroom, and sometimes the bathroom door can be locked by mistake, so I thought maybe he was just so desperate...but no, the door to the bathroom was wide open.  Whats more, he had to climb over the baby gate to get into my room, (I'm fixing a hole in my door right now, so its off the hinges and since my room doubles as my sewing room, I keep it gated off.) and on his way over it, I asked him what he was doing.  And he told me!  I just have to pee!  WTH!

My son sleepwalks occasionally too.Last winter I woke at one am to find the door leading to the garage standing wide open but he had gone back to bed already. It was creepy, but I know if there had been an intruder Jewel would have barked her head off.

Slightly OT, but there's a sleep aid med  that they advertise on TV.  They say not to drive while you're taking it (OK, that makes sense) but then they say  that one of the side effects could be that you might get up and go driving while you're asleep.  WTH? I think if I had to choose, I'd rather drive awake and on the meds than be driving around in my sleep.

Joyce, is that the one where they say to Contact your doctor if any of these activities occur while sleeping?  I always found that a little odd.

I think so.  Like you're going to live long enough to call the doctor if you drive while you're sleeping anyway. Embarrassed
