Irena Farm Get Together Pictures *VERY pic heavy!*

I got nothing of the really fun stuff at the end (other than Pond Walk #2, which was Dog.com people, including me, and a couple random BCs).  My camera batteries ran out - it happens every year.  I saw Idealots of people taking pictures so, ahem, I'm hoping once I break the ice here we'll get some of the herding?

    First - meet and greet.

Yup, someone did indeed bring a 36' motorhome.

Hey Zippy!  Sorry you are so blurry, my camera is not so good on overcast days . . .

Another hairy small dog, my Zhi.  Not hairy for long, though!  Zhi's "Before" picture - remember this, folks.

Okay, indulge me, because I just love this series of pictures.  They are not that good, but oh my!  How CUTE is Ella?!

I just want to Ideaeat her little pink pencil eraser nose!

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Ella swimming, or the boys (including her dad and my hubby) fishing, as we had multiple crises occur about that time and then we started with shearing Zhi and working sheep.

There were two Aussie mixes, but sadly I totally forgot to encourage them to work the sheep.  I was kind of running on empty by the time we worked sheep.  This is CoCo, from dog.com:

Dog.com member named Mystic, Coco's sister.

Mystic and CoCo get the Long Haul award for this event, hailing from Western Maryland.

One more brief set and then lunchtime.

This stunning dog is Misha - a Great Pyr, Chow mix.  And he's a boy.  Did I mention that?

Isn't Misha handsome? And yes, he's really that big. Well, time to go over for lunch!

As usual we were blessed with practically perfect weather.  The rain that threatened in the afternoon only brought a delish breeze and in fact never did arrive.

    The food was fantastic!

The nice thing about dog centered events is all the people who are really comfortable with dogs.  Julie greets CoCo.  If this were a non-doggy picnic, Julie would be more interested in keeping CoCo out of her plate or would have just ignored her.

Did I mention how good the food was?

Okay, you are supposed to wait an hour before swimming but let's go to the pond right now!

We had a couple of BC people playing Frisbee on the way to the pond.  Normal dogs are happy just going somewhere.  Border Collies have to do something on the way there.  It's about the journey, man . . .

The scale of this place can be hard to get your head around in the beginning.  We had a dog wander off into this corner and avoid his owner, just exploring (not one of these, another dog, later).  Although it's smart to keep the dog in sight as we did during his excursion, I knew that before he found a road in that direction, he would have to walk for miles, literally.  Most dogs tire or get bored before they find the one hole in the thousand feet of fence back there, and in fact that's what happened.

My dogs know what's down this path so that's them dashing off in the distance.

    Gratuitous shot of Lynn.

    Almost there!

Mystic spots it - let me go dad!

    There it is!

Brown dogs at the pond - sounds like a line from Dr. Suess:

Brown dogs and black and white dogs at the pond:

Because I know you can't get enough of Lynn:

Right to left:  Ben, Lynn, Ted, and yes - Zhi!

Well, that's when my camera died on me.  I'm hoping someone else got other pictures.  And will share.  Ahem.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh man that looks like a lot of fun! I wish I could have been there. Maybe next time.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh, wow!! What fun!! .... being on the opposite coast has it's serious disadvantages!

Looks like everyone had a great time! :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow - that does look like a great time and I too wish I could've been there. It's nice to see the photos though, and I never get tired of pictures of Lynn Big Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

I promise to post stuff I took when I get home from work today.  Cross my heart and everything :o)

    • Gold Top Dog

Okay... I mostly took pictures of dogs and not so much of people with their dogs. But here goes anyway.

Misha's thoughts on the whole thing.

Misha saying hey to the guardians... and their sheep.

Lynn scratching. Misha is obsessed with her, but she does not share his sentiment.

Ella watching ... somebody? fetching the wrong ball.

My attempt at a nice shot of everyone together.

    And separately... Mystic.

    And Coco.

    And again.

    And at the food table...

Okay... it looks kind of creepy how many pictures of these two I have, but consider that most of the rest of the dogs were BCs. These two were some of the most sedentary dogs there. So I took their pictures a lot. Also, they're photogenic. Not that the others weren't, they were just moving too much.

    Zippy.

See? Someone other than Mystic and Coco. I think this is Ben... maybe.

The ducks opinion on the whole herding thing.

    Shedding the ducks.

    And ... herding action!

The psycho after his turn. (I don't remember who's who... sorry guys!)

Begging to go out after the ducks again.

All the pictures are wonderful!  makes me even more steamed that the idiots couldn't fix my car

BTW I still don't have it Angry

    • Gold Top Dog

    I'm so jealous.

It looks like everyone had a great time.

    • Gold Top Dog

I never knew there were get togethers for people on this board.  Do you guys know each other from some other place?

    • Gold Top Dog

Ok, I just accidently erased my entire post.  So I'll post these now and resize them tomorrow when I'm not so frustrated.

ETA: Ok, this is a bit better:

    Group shot

Lynn, who was the first to greet us as we pulled up.

    I believe this is Joey.

And of course, Misha (have I mentioned how absolutely gorgeous I think he is?)

Some of the many dogs whose names I don't know Embarrassed

Benedict, this pic was for you Smile

    Zhi w/ hair

    And now w/ less hair

More hair cutting.  Don't know the dogs name, but I think they said he was 10 yrs old.

    Duck herding

I think this is called shedding.  Separating them into 2 groups?

    Sheep!

    Swimming

I think this is Ted, but I could very well be wrong.

Lynn was a swimming fiend, she was amazing.

This was as close as mine got to swimming, just feet wet.

And I know you've seen some shots of them already, but I couldn't make a photo post w/o including my girls.

    Yep, she's cool :o)

And after their grand adventure, they were all tuckered out.

I also got some video clips of the sheep and duck herding, but they were taking a long time to upload and I gave up.  Hopefully I can post them soon.

    • Gold Top Dog

Now, those are fantastic pictures. I love your polka-dotted Crested. My next Crested WILL be polka-dotted, dang it!!! This one was supposed to be!!!

Next year, we're so there. That looks like so much fun!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Polka dotted envy, huh, Jennie?  We've seriously got to meet up.  Maybe I''ll end up down that way in the fall for a trial.

Thanks ADork for the cool pictures.  You've got Gus (stand up ears) and Ben there.  I know, they are all black and white dogs, lol.  I like the eye you have for animal pictures.  You definitely need to come up again soonish!

Steph, I feel your frustration, girl - I can't tell you how many times I've tried to post and got a bad connect, but then the reply interface refreshes the text field and my post is GONE.  Arrgh.  I have figured out a work around, but it only works if I can get a good connect the next attempt.

I'm looking forward to seeing the REST of the pictures, Steph!  It's a bit like those puzzles where it's really close up and you have to guess what it is.  Hilarious.  Here's an eyeball.  Sheep?  Dog?  What dog is it?  Hee!

    • Gold Top Dog

What a great meeting you guys had, the place looks awesome and I'm sure doggies and humans had a blast!

    • Gold Top Dog

Rupert and I are so jealous! Looks like it was a wonderful time.

    • Gold Top Dog

Ok, my pictures should all fit now and have a few labels.  Brookcove and Adorkable you guys got some really nice pics!  We had such a good time.  Thanks again, Becca, for having us :o)
