FOLKS THE PICTURE FOLLOWING IS *VERY* DISTURBING IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH (she looks like something out of a horror film)
They're looking into flying her as well -- but I'm not sure they'd think she was healthy enough TO fly. But it might be better for her than car travel. Not sure when the vet will see clear to release her either -- this and other questions to be answered tomorrow.
Many questions to be answered -- not sure if she's at all house-trained (that could be a deal killer -- I'm 45 minutes each way from home during the day and I only get 1/2 hr for lunch)
she's in an actual animal 'hospital' now ... and I've got a ton of questions about what tests have and have *not* been run. If she has, as I suspect, a deep bacterial ear infection (which would account for the unbelievable amount of demodex and skin infection) they need to do a culture and sensitivity because the slight drugs they have her on just won't cut something like that.
We have to get her stablized FIRST. I suspect the vet thinks she's a lost cause so she's not getting adquate vet treatment. We'll see.
Marty, thanks so much. It all depends on when they will release her and how we best figure to get her to us. and IF we can do this.
This is a 'front' picture of her (without her everpresent cone) -- it's a horrible picture -- you wouldn't believe this IS a pug (a fawn pug, in fact). The head is the most 'infected' but the rest of the body is covered in what the vet "is thinking is staph".
That's not likely just staph -- that's a contact allergen. My guess is she's been kept outside (the woman who had her went on and on -- that it made her nauseus to touch her, that she had sarcops AND demodex ... which I do believe -- but the claims of vet care 'on base' are ludicrous because they don't HAVE a vet at that military outpost - they already know that at the rescue.
